I sometimes miss the snow and four seasons. I don't miss scraping the ice off my vehicle and having to wait for it to warm up.

You're not missing much its not a big thrill.
I mentioned this already but I learned this from my father when I was a kid that its important to clear a car off even if you don't plan on using it that day and shovel a walk even if it goes to a door you don't use that often.
What happens is like today its under 20 degrees but the sun is out. If you get the heavy snow and ice off the rays will bring the car to metal and the walk to pavement. If you just leave it, the sun will liquidate it a bit and by nightfall it will freeze and become even harder to clear off and scrape.

It's about 25 degrees here, with about an inch of snow on the ground. Earlier in the week the temperature was only in the single digits, and we had snow and sleet. The roof at one of our local McDonald's restaurants caved in late Thursday night because of the combination of a flat rooftop, an old roof, the amount of sleet and snow that accumulated, and the roof not being cleaned off. The roof caved in after the place had been closed for the night, so thankfully nobody was hurt.

For the most part I like living in the South better. It isnt as much warmer as the stereotypes I grew up being taught made me believe, but it is warmer and more to my liking. I sometimes miss thenorthern winter. I got to take my sons to the area I grew up during some snow and take them sleddign something they never did before. I might take them skiing next month if I can get the time off from work. If not I might let my parents take them for a week now that they're a bit older I and wont be afraid to be away for a few days.

Classic, for some reason I thought it snowed in the state you currently live in, as there are a few southern states that get snow. I know you said it snows in the state you grew up in, but I also thought you got snow where you now live, too. If I'm correct, you must live in the southern part of the state, if you do not get snow.
While there are some days during the winter when I wished I lived in one of the southern states, after visiting Florida last July, when the temperatures down there were in the mid-90s, I think I'll stick to Ohio. At least I don't live near Lake Erie, as that lake effect snow can get really bad at times.

In So Cal we have been punched with a powerful Winter rainstorm. Our roofs at work leaked and roads washed out in some places . Flash flood warnings in effect. Mudslides in the mountains and Canyons. My Dad lives in Laguna Beach and cannot get down here to Los Angeles because the roads are closed with mud slides.

Lots of snow today and overnight. I plowed twice. Sometimes that's the most thankless thing. If you cut the grass at least you're good for about a week. Sometimes you clear snow and in a few hours or even about an hour its right back where you started. That's aggravating.

Got about an inch of snow on the ground now. We're expecting about 2 to 4 inches this weekend. Should be partly cloudy on Monday, but it will snow the rest of the week.

I sometimes wonder how they predict weather and sometimes they're totally wrong even with all this sophisticated equipment.

I wonder that too Classic. With all the fancy equiptment mother nature has a way of leaving meteorologists with egg on there face.

I got to go to where Classic's Family lives. I spent a day and a night there and they had snow it was so pretty I stayed an extra day and flew back later than I was intending to.
I'm home now and so are my Sons but they had a ball going on plane rides and being at their Grandparents home who they don't see all the time.

I grew up with lake effect snow. My family lives pretty close to Lake Ontario and anybody near the great lakes, I know that's a pretty large part of two countries since there are five of them and they cover enough square miles each of them are bigger than some states.
So anybody within about 100 miles of any of the five Great Lakes knows what I mean. When you get Lake Effect snow it can in a few hours or maybe an hour cover the roads and next thing you know there's 4 to 12 inches.

My snowmobile and I want to take a road trip up to the UP of Michigan for some deep snow fun.

We get some pretty heavy snow here too. And some of it is lake effect we're about 70 miles east of Lake Erie and about 100 miles south of Lake Ontario.
There's a lot of skiing resorts within 25 minutes of here. Ellicottville, NY is only about 25 minutes away and there's lodges and hotels and some very upscale resort condominiums in that area.
We have a region going the other direction between Bradford and Custer City that has a touch of that too but I think there just aren't quite as many hills so it never developed as much.

We get three types of storms in Los Angeles. Pacific storms which are wet, wild and windy rainstorms. Arctic blasts which are rainy and cold with hail sometimes. And my favorite. The Pineapple Express that comes from the tropics of Hawaii . Those are windy and warm.
