if a person has just joined and only has 20 posts, should they be automatically called a noob? and why can't you still be a noob after 500 posts?

For me, post counts have nothing to do with respect. I could hate someone with a high post count, and I usually do tend to dislike the "postwhore" types that feel like they need to post in every single topic.

For example, Peon has over 1200 posts. And yet nobody respects him.

I said "to a certain extent".
If you have 2 posts, I will respect you less than someone else with 20 or 200 posts of similar quality.
But I will respect someone with 2 well-thought-out posts more than another person with 2,000 ungrammatical, nonsensical posts.
I've seen too many spammers to indiscriminately respect brand-new members, unless I already know them from somewhere.

I prefer to talk to the grownups on this site, but there are a lot of adolescents who like to jump in with a bunch of obnoxious crap. Oh, well. Comes with the territory, as they say.

Not post count. I don't think anybody who is here to really discuss even cares about that.
I for 1 have no idea how many posts I have most of the time once in a while I see it but I don't look at it nor do I know or care how my post count compares to other forum members.
I am probably high on the list only because I have been here almost everyday for the nearly 4 years the forum has been around.
Otherwise what you have to say is important not how often you say it is not important at all.
For that matter if you forgot to say something and you add with a follow up post I am not someone who would say 'hey that's a double post.' That doesn't bother me.
In fact if somobody posts only to raise their post count and doesn't actually discuss the thread that is annoying. I don't see post count holding too much merit.

Post count should NOT make a difference because there are always going to be new people on any website. Every person deserves respect, and new people should be welcomed and given a chance to say what they have to and contribute to the conversation without being flamed and blasted by losers who think they're funny.
I agree with what Werewoof says completely and prefer to talk to only those I know. Age doesn't always mean something though, but on the board I mod, SOH, there's been an age limit of 15 I think, because we've gotten alot of stupidity from kids on there, who've been banned before usually. Not everyone is going to know something you say is all in fun or even if they do realise it, they're not going to find it amusing.
Arguements happen anywhere but you know, when one person is talked to about it and attempts to walk away, and the crap keeps happening from the other side, youi're just right back where it all started.

@ werwoof please stop double-posting. USE THE EDIT BUTTON, THAT'S WHY IT'S THERE!

Take that brick out of your ass, gizmo. "Thud" indeed.
It's not that big of a deal if someone double posts. Don't worry about it. You're not gonna die.

Sorry, it's just bothersome. It's less annoying if there's no edit button or the posts are more than say an hour apart.

I voted yes because I can.
It is more of a case by case thing. New members could go either way, they could be good or they could be total idiots. The only difference between noobs and older members is how long they have been at a place. There are plenty of members with high post counts that make me want to kill myself when I see them post.

I prefer to talk to the grownups on this site, but there are a lot of adolescents who like to jump in with a bunch of obnoxious crap. Oh, well. Comes with the territory, as they say. Hey. Don't lump all of us adolescents in as obnoxious just because a few of the younger (read: non-adult) members here are. werwoof, are you aware that this site was started by an eleven year old kid? This site used to be for obnoxious adolescents. Besides, this isn't your territory. It's ours. I believe that you are on our turf, and that if you have a problem with any of the members here that have helped build this site and make it what it is, well, then you can leave. I know this site has changed in purpose and that many of the former members are gone and that it's run by different people now, but that doesn't matter. It's a forum. You're supposed to talk to everyone. That's the whole idea. A forum is a place where people can meet, regardless of age, race, sex, or principles/values, and discuss things from their point of view. Everyone's opinion carries at least a little weight because everyone's opinion is supposed to matter. That's why we are (or why we should) be here - to discuss stuff and get new ideas from new people. By deciding to not participate with other members of this site, you're killing the intended purpose of this place. Anyhow... I voted "to a certain extent." My viewpoint is basically the same as edlinfan's. _glitch_

I don't think the amount of posts is very important. Double post don't bother me as long as both posts had something to say. I do remember a girl who was a Member of another site who had over fifty posts and all except about three of them here "hahaha"
I could even deal with that once or twice but when every post is hahaha there's very little value in that.
So someone with less posts but more to say would have had more substance in what they were saying.
So I think what a person says in their post is more useful than how many posts are logged up. I have never cared about my post count and I don't think most adult site Members notice that either.

I wouldnt mind the double posts but for the fact that every topic he posts in he double posts Yeesh, kid, I thought you'd appreciate the affirmation. I try to avoid double-posts, but it's not a big deal, considering the size of some of the photos in some of the signatures in here. That's WAY more annoying than a double-post. Big deal. Get a life. Yeesh, who cares about post count? Why don't you little boys try to put a little content in your posts? Man, that's pathetic!
