I'm just getting pissed off because I spent the past five years in college, commuting 4 hours a day, taking care of a child with special needs,getting 2 degrees, all while graduating with a A average and I can't find a freaking job. To top it off, my student loan re-paymets start next month. Why, you ask.? Because I don't speak Spanish fluently. I speak some, but not enough to do the type of work I'm trying to get into. I have been actually told I am no longer considered a candidate because of my inability to speak Spanish. The last time I checked, ENGLISH was the official language. If anyone is interested, I am trying to get a job with a non-profit mental health organization as a case manager. Chances are if you don't speak English, you're here illegally. Otherwise, how would you pass the citizenship test, which is admistered in English? So, I guess it's Target, here I come. Wow, I'm sure glad I went to university for 5 years. *eye roll* you should of realized that before you went to college for 5 years. Also you couldn't take Spanish as your language req.? You fail Um, no, asshat. I'm trying to get a year's worth of revelant experience so I can go to grad school. One does not need to know Spanish to graduate with a degree in Psychology. Welcome Sui. I'm glad to see you're on the 'right' side of things. I'm Mahnarch and I've had several run-ins with the ingrates here. I've extended the olive branch to ______ (formerly 'McLovein'/formerly 'McLiberal'/formerly 'jesusarus'/currently a douche) No matter what anyone says, he's got an opposite view. You like Muppets - he hates Muppets. You like water - he hates water. You're pro-choice - he's pro-life. In your next post you're pro-life - he's pro-choice. The list goes on and on. He's also only a 13 year old kid, too. You have to realize that. It's the same with most of the teens around here. You just can't rationalize with them. Think of this as an opportunity. Having illegal immigrants doing the more laborous jobs can possibly provide time to perform further research and advance our civilization at a trememdous rate, like how agriculture did many years ago.
Advancements in fields would allow highly trained specialists to move up, providing room for less-experienced people to fill in their spots.
When will you need to give therapy to Spanish people? I'm sure you'll be able to get some other job in psychology.

If Mexicans and Asian keep filling these 'labourious' jobs, then our children will have nothing to build upon.
Kids as young as 12 won't be filling labarotories and coming up with hydrogen plasma synthetics.
Bob from down the street, trying to feed his two kids and wife wouldn't be tuning a laser beam at a micro-organism on a telescope.
However, Jose, Paco, Eduardo, Enrique, Espanosa, Miguel, Rico, y Fidora, pueden hacer los trabajos que nos americanos quieren.....

I also agree that labor jobs lead to eventual building upon other positions. My father use to say "I can't believe everything I buy unless I make a deliberate effort is made in Japan." That was true in the 1980s but now you hardly ever see Japan its Taiwan, China, Indonesia. or sometimes India. Japan has graduated to out-sourcing production too. |

I mean what the hell do these foreigners think they're doing when they come over here looking for an improvement of their lives, evasion of percecution, or more opportunities for advancement? I mean we were here first! what right do these people have to just come in and take our country away from us?! I don't think that's being disputed now I think it's more about existing Americans having to learn Spanish to accommodate immigrants instead of the new comers learning English to blend the way immigrants have done for over 2 centuries. __________ I doubt that Mahnarch hates you I think he didn't like your seemingly aggressive post towards Sui Generis. And finally I don't think the Michigan trucker dislikes you anymore than the minor league 3rdbaseman but I think he was suggesting that you might see things somewhat differently when you're a little older. Because most of us have a different outlook then we had as teenagers. Not for sure though. |

I don't get why speaking solely Spanish is a big deal. Less people speak English than Spanish, which makes it the better of the two.
Seriously, invading Mexico is a viable solution. That way, Mexicans wouldn't be illegal, we'd be able to stop a much larger portion of drug trade, and they'd have more money to fix their cities and have a reason to stay in the future state of Mexico. It'd be more productive that the war in Iraq, and the troops need a good break from fighting.

It's not "better" in any way, it's just different, and that's all. When in whatever country you're in you need to learn that language to get by and nobody should have to bend over backwards for you. Sure, help with learning and all that, fine. If they want to speak Spanish or whatever it is with friends and family then that's great, but to get by you need to do what the majority does. If I went to live in Mexico I'd need to learn Spanish the best I could. What stupidity to say what you did! Don't even get me started on the absurd idea of invading Mexico...  You're right, though having an education these days is important, I think they make too much emphasis on it and sadly that puts alot of people out of work. Anyway, good for you that you can be happy doing your job, and as long as you contribute to something and get off your arse you aren't low class for that. By the way, LMAO!!! at that bottom part about the teen with braces and afro hair. Meh, you were off by a year.
Yes, I'm sure you see plenty of that approximately 1000 miles away from Mexico or Cuba.
WISC-II test had me at an IQ of 146. That has me at about 20 years of mental age.

Hispanics are the fastest growing minority. In a few decades, they'll be the majority.
I'll admit that Spanish's superiority is an opinion, not a concrete fact.
Makes more sense than invading Iraq. If we already have troops deployed, why not use them efficiently rather than have dozens die from suicide attacks?
