Out in Los Angelas there's a protest of immigrants.
I don't mind illegal immigrants being in America they ran for refuge for a 'better life.' Like I said I don't mind that. But to rally and march for rights fo citizenship when they came in illegally is a little bit much in my opinion.
There's a procedure to get into the country and they didn't follow it so they shouldn't be protesting and demanding reform.
They're probably saying that the reform they want is it should be easier to get into America leagally but I don't know the answer for that but I don't see the rights for a protest when they're already breaking the law.

I agree it should be easier to become a citizen. I think that it's a good thing people are coming here for a search of a better life, that's fine, but if they get hurt and have to go to the hospital guess who has to pay for that? U.S. citizens, since they don't pay taxes. It should be much, much easier to become a citizen it's rediculos how it is now.

This is a tough topic because its something I can see both sides of.
I have seen immigrants that came for all different reasons. A number of them play baseball and instead of going home when they're released from the teams in the event they're not under contract they end up taking jobs as car washers or laborers of sorts.
Sometimes they take jobs for wages below minimum wage because they're illegal and can't protest much.
People put them up in homes where they collect 20 or 50 bucks every other week from each of them and pack them in a small apartment like sardines.
But like Phil said they're here illegally.
I see both sides of it.

I've had some guys work for me with green cards, I'll tell you immigrants work hard. Sometimes people who aren't born to American culture are more greatful when they find it.

Should there be a deal where if you have a respectable job for a certain period of time you should gain citizenship?
As opposed to the people Classic has known sometimes they're failed baseball players and end up being drug pushers and thugs for people who are willing to put them up and pay them illegally.

Reviving, if that's OK.
I remember the protest. You should have seen how it was here in Mexico City. The reaction of the wall of shame (what it's called here) was huge here. Although, the reason why there are so many illegal immigrants is probably because of the high amounts of corruption in the government. There was a supposedly a fraud in the elections but it's not that well known.
My parents moved over to the U.S. for their studies. They lived of green cards and became citizens afterwards. I was born over there but for economical reasons (that I don't wish to talk about) we had to move here in Mexico City.

My belief is that America was built on immigration, or the giant melting pot. Hey, it's how many of my ancestors got here. I think that instead of cracking down on immigrants and just focusing on getting the illegal ones out, the government should try and give them an opportunity to live here legally through work or days/weeks put into helping our government or agriculture, or what have you. (Hey, post 400. )

Like I said I can see both sides of it but Jersey described mainly how I feel because if they're already here they should have a chance at staying.
Classicblast has known several teammates who ended up being druglords if they were let go by the team because they didnt want to go back to their native country. And without papers there weren't other jobs. Some believed that illegal methods were easier I make no excuses for anybody.

I think that as long as they 'keep their nose clean' I'd let them all stay.
Maybe if they got caught doing something illegal. I don't mean a traffic ticket. But, selling drugs, robery or anything then instead of a conviction it's deportation.
There's a number of Columbian men at work and they are great workers. Good attitudes, do whatever it takes to get the job done, no complaining and grumbling, and they're here to work.
For the most part I am too, but I did balk a little with the spilled outhouses event, chuckle.

Here in England we have a lot of immigrants. Mostly Kosovans, and a few Romanians and Polish people too. Our policy on immigrants is very relaxed-but the sneak in over the Channel on boats,or strapped to the underneath of lorries. That's what makes me so mad about them-they even risk their own,and their kids' lives as well. Before anyone berates me for being racist,i'm not,but I DO feel very sorry for thr troubles they have in their own countries, but their coming to England doesn't solve the problem. My youngest two girls have to go to a school 2 miles away,as our local one was taking in immigrant kids before kids who have growm up here. I just wish there was an easy solution, but the English Government are so corrupt it's unbelievable. They should work with other countries to find a way of resolving the problems.

I see that's a problem wherever less fortunate people have a chance to seek a better life.
I definitely don't think that illegals should have a chance at the schools before the native children and I still don't feel the immigrant children should be deprived. I wish I had a solution.

I am very annoyed with people crossing the border in my community. I know they are in search of a new life, but they have brought a lot of gang violence to a once peaceful area.
The hassle it takes to get into America is crazy though..

Sometimes those people work a little harder because they're more appreciative too. There are problems introduced with illegals but they do tend to appreciate what the rest of us take for granted.
