so I read a story that made me sick and I never thought it happens until today. a 24 year old woman who is on welfare with no job won 1 million dollars. so with the money she bought herself a new car and a new 2nd house paid in cash. kicker is she is still on welfare getting $200.00 a month for food. she says she can't make ends meet having to pay bills with no job and 2 houses. really how is it a need to get a second house? if you can't make ends meet then what you did was really stupid. put that money in a savings account and use it on bills. she also say's the state allows her to have the $200.00 a month so she thought it was okay. NO it's not okay. there are people who lost their job living in a car. some are working three jobs to make ends meet. think of the children who don't have food on the table because you are so greedy. mark my words that lottery winnings she won will go fast. I don't judge people because I know what it's like trying to find a job but she is taking advantage of the system for people who really need it. I am now looking for a second job because I don't have the money to pay my credit card bills because kmart cut my hours so bad. I found out through a employee the company is going down that's why we have no hours. he doesn't think our store will close but my friend has advised me to look for a lawyer to file bankruptcy. this saturday I may have to call up and ask if my credit cards have a 30 day grace payment so I can find another job. many days I have been so stressed out I have been on my laptop just crying. I also looked online and saw many people are taking out loans to pay their credit cards. things are just getting bad. I applied to 4 places online and herd from target there are no positions for me. I don't want to contact a lawyer because I herd you need $1000.00 up front to file for bankruptcy but it kills me there are people who win millions and still collect welfare. I hope this stops for the people who really need it.

Obviously that should never happen. I get tired of this too. People who milk systems. You'd be amazed how many people who are on food-stamps who aren't really worthy candidates.
As soon as the lottery payout was issued the well-fair should have stopped. Its a state lotto and a state issued well-fair. A vitrification needed to be made that this is the same person and that closes the book on well-fair or any social service at all.

i agree and they are trying to stop it now. I hope they do because when you think of all the people who really need it it hurts them more.

This should never happen.
Sunday going into Monday I started at 5pm instead of 11pm because of needed hands on. I got home Monday at 11am instead of 730am. Monday overnight was extra busy and I had to stay through the day shift and didn't even get home til 4pm. Slept a bit and back at the usual 11pm.
That's why I wasn't here yesterday.
I'm 40 years old its a bit tougher to do extended shifts than it was at age 25, 30 and whatever. But I have 3 kids vehicle payments mortgages so I manage as much as I can.
So reading about someone who is on welfair and wins the mega lottery doesn't sit well with me.
Not only should welfair be cut off, whatever this person has received in welfair should have to be paid back out of the jackpot before the proceeds go to her. Once she won the lotto she was no longer a hardship case. So if its a year or whatever has been dolled out to her should be paid back from the winnings before she gets her final payout.

That woman is a turd to the highest degree. A 500k payout and still living on welfare? Shows she had no interest in finding a job at all.
I read an article before that her name was yankedoff the program. Good. Now she can get her lazy ass in her new fancy car, depart from one of her two houses, and look for a job like everyone else!
Guarantee she'll be back on the program after she spends all the money on material items. And the corrupt system will be more than happy to put her back on.

exactly I agree. it looks like she is spending money on things she doesn't need. that money will drain fast. we should not help people like that. she made herself look so stupid saying times are hard I have two houses. you don't need that. I hope they pass a bill to stop lottery winners from collecting welfare.

everybody who pays into welfair would be able to pay less of it if only the people who need it received it.
my dad worked a double twice this week. my brother and my sister might be too young to understand but I know he did it for us to be able to give more to us. he had nothing to gain for himself by doing that other than loss of sleep having to eat a leftover sandwich because he was asleep at our normal dinnertime.
then this happens. someone wins big money at lottery and gets welfair too

The values of hard work, sacrifice, and selflessness. Continue to keep a firm hold of those values. When this country has its second renaissance, I have a very easy time picturing you as one of its leaders.

I know a lot of people who participate in the lottery everyday. I admit when it reaches big figures I've bought tickets but not regularly I think it's been years since I have.
I just gather that I don't have much of a chance anyway.
Obviously that's the idea its a jackpot that is unlikely they say you have a better chance of being struck by lightning twice than winning the lotto. I guess if you put a buck or two a day aside in 5 years you'd have appreciable money that's more likely than winning big one time.

You are all making me feel pretty good. But I hope I send a positive message and I hope I lead by example. I would hate to be a good talker who doesn't live up to what I say.
I am touched by Jason's post about noticing that although I may complain about having to work a double there is a positive side effect of it and that he sees that is what motivates me at those times.

Phil I think you are sending a positive message. there are many adults looking for ways to cheat the system or get a free meal. on the fast track to money the easiest means to. but then there are those who actually work hard and it's great when their kids can see that. it's also teaching the younger generation. I was so backed up in credit card payments because Kmart cut my hours then I learned the hard way it's staying like this. done park called me today after I lost their number to hr and I was so happy. I have to call them and see if they can hire me. a second job is very much needed. I have a big fear of bees so I can't work at the food stands. as for the girl winning big and still getting welfare I think it's horrible. I understand the economy is bad but many places are hiring you just have to look. Kmart's and sears are hiring part time better then nothing. you can't depend on help to pay your bills all your life. at some point that will run out. I have my fingers crossed I get hired very fast by Dorney.

I think it comes back to the basic you can give someone a fish and feed them today or teach them to fish and feed them for life. I don't think those conditioned for social services and being dependent on such things ever really learn to fish so to speak.

I am fearful that life is coming a bit too easy to some of the younger people. They aren't made to earn their privileges they are just granted them.
Understood, of course, that the American way was so that the next generation wouldn't have to work as hard as the last. That's the intent of how our system was developed. I get that.
Yet if there's any long term hope of maintaining our way of life we must know how it was constructed and be able to maintain it.
