I'm conservative. Independant. But, I also listen to the other side. and sometimes the other side comes to the same conclusion. Neal Boortz is a hard core, devoted Liberal, but he has common sense, which, you would think would make him a conservative. Is there such a thing as a Conservative Liberal? He states, straight faced, that he is for Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness. And if anything comes against those, he stands on the 'Right' side. I still say he's a Connie, but he says he's Lib. boortz.com/nuze/index.htmlSome quick highlights: AUSTRALIA CAVES IN TO MUSLIM DEMANDS Australia is developing national standards to be adopted by universities in order to meet the educational and religious "obligations" of Muslim students. This means that all universities will be required to provide Halal food and prayer rooms. SWISS ARMY KNIFE IN THE CAR = A FELONY? More from Cobb County, Georgia. It seems that a Cobb County student, Will Chandler, was found with a Swiss Army knife in the center console of his car. I can tell you that I have a Swiss Army knife in the console of my car right now. The difference is, this kid is actually going to be charged with a felony! That's right, folks ... a felony! Bad kid? Nope .. he has no record of disciplinary problems at his school. SPAIN'S STRATEGY FOR ILLEGAL IMMIGRATIONS In Spain they've devised a new way to handle the deportation of illegal immigrants ... put them in straitjackets! The 'common sense' part is the key.
If the other side said I had to give half my paycheck to the illegals, I wouldn't listen.

They certainly do have a right to practice and believe what they want, but this is going too far and is really not necessary. At home they can do what they will, but I know Australia is not a Muslim country, and therefore should not have to bend over backwards lest they get upset, oh no! Now that's just being spineless. When in Rome, ya know.... And about the Swiss Army knife found in the car...how the f*ck is that a felony? As far as I know it's not even something that used to be considered a knife let alone a weapon, though anything can be used as a weapon if you think about it. Every boy scout has one don't they? Talk about paranoia.

Some of that is depending on the school.
If you attend St. James University don't be offended if you're required class includes a Catholic Scripture class. Don't be offended if there's not a Jewish temple or Muslim provision on campus.
A public university might not have any of the above but they may allow students to orgainze and assemble for prayer groups. Prayer is not forbidden in public schools as some suggest it just has to be student organized to avoid the public school from taking a religious stand.
The swiss army knife in the car being a felony is stupid. I hope they don't check my truck's glove box they'll find lots of things that could convict me that most rational people would think is nothing at all.

Student organized, being the key word. What was stated above tells us it was being demanded to be made a requirement, and that's what's not right.

It's nice that you think there are only two sides to an issue, and anyone who says otherwise is a pinko commie bastar'd.

AUSTRALIA CAVES IN TO MUSLIM DEMANDS I wouldn't really say "cave in" All they did was accept the Muslim ways, is that a big deal? I bet if Christians had to pray 5 times a day you wouldn't care at all. ------------------------- SWISS ARMY KNIFE IN THE CAR = A FELONY? Ok, lol thats pretty funny. But taking a look at some of them kind of shows why : --------------------------------------- SPAIN'S STRATEGY FOR ILLEGAL IMMIGRATIONS That's a rather odd thing to do.... lol u iz crazy for tryin 2 sneek in2 spain r country iz teh sux0rz lololol

Note that I did not state that anyone said it. And I agree; it is ridiulous to look at the world in more than one dimension. What the hell was I thinking?
How absurd! Why, after several school stabbings and very prolific shootings, would schools be upset if a student brought a weapon on campus?

It's nice that you think there are only two sides to an issue, and anyone who says otherwise is a pinko commie bastar 'd. . . . I don't see that in any of the posts in this thread. And a swiss army knife in a car hardly constitutes a deadly weapon. It is possible for a Swiss army knife to seriously injure maybe even kill in extreme circumstances but in general the Swiss army knife is not a deadly weapon. And to have it in the car shouldn't be a felony. It's something you can buy at K Mart for crying out loud.

Calm down Demona.... Heres the definition from the Webster's Dictionary of Law: Merriam-Webster's Dictionary of Law - Cite This Source
Main Entry: fel·o·ny Pronunciation: 'fe-l&-nE Function: noun Inflected Form: plural -nies : a crime that has a greater punishment imposed by statute than that imposed on a misdemeanor; specifically : a federal crime for which the punishment may be death or imprisonment for more than a year —see also ATTAINDER, TREASON NOTE: Originally in English law a felony was a crime for which the perpetrator would suffer forfeiture of all real and personal property as well as whatever sentence was imposed. Under U.S. law, there is no forfeiture of all of the felon's property (real or personal) and such forfeiture is not part of the definition of a felony. For certain crimes, however (as for a conviction under the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act or a narcotics law), specific property, such as that used in or gained by the crime, is subject to forfeiture. Every state has its own statutory definition of a felony. Most are in line with the federal definition of a felony as a crime which carries a sentence of imprisonment for more than one year or the death penalty (where applicable). Other states, like Louisiana, define a felony as a crime which carries a sentence of death or imprisonment at hard labor. I'm pretty sure the school would have made it plain beforehand that carrying a weapon on campus would result in legal action if discovered. My old school had us sign a form so that they could do so, and I'd imagine almost all schools do that kind of thing now.
Well, I took the fact that Mahnarch implied that the only side other than conservative was liberal, and compared that to his reactions in other threads, making a combined assessment.

Schools have rules for this and what's considered a weapon, and I remember when I was in highschool I think knife had to be a certain length or type to be considered such, but knowing how things are these days, even then it wouldn't be surprising if someone freaked out over it.
