Actually the legal drinking age is fine. If under age teens drink and do all the stupid stuff they do now, imagine if they could drink whenever they wanted.
The problem with the US versus European countries is that European countries introduce alcohol to people at a young age. In the US, we are brought up that alcohol is bad. Alcohol, to us Americans, is something forbidden, which makes us want it. As a result of the inexperience with alcohol, people don't know when to stop or how to drink in moderation.
You can legally drink right now though. Let's say you and your parents went out to eat at a restaurant, they could order a bottle of wine and give you a glass of it because the parents are giving cosnent and buying the alcohol.
If used in moderation, alcohol can be good for you. In fact, moderate drinkers (maximum of 2 drinks a day) tend to be healtheir than both non-drinkers and alcoholics. If someone drinks to much, fatty liver can develop and the mouth, throat, and esophagus become more susceptible to cancer.
Basically, the drinking age is fine. Besides, if someone underage wants to drink bad enough, it's not hard to get alcohol.

Yeah I think the drinking age should be left right where it is.

Besides, if someone underage wants to drink bad enough, it's not hard to get alcohol. Seriously. We have about 10 bottles of St. Pauli Girl in the fridge, two jugs of vodka under the bar, and I think two bottles of wine on the winerack. All just sitting there.

Dang, and some of my cosins drink, alot. I live in an alcoholic family so I have to be careful not to overgo past my limit because I don't know if I have the gene. Anyways nobody here takes it seriously heck some people at my age in middle school smoke. Its amazing because although underage smokers are able to buy cigarrettes in a store, they can simply buy it at a stall. wow thats all I gotta say, wow.

I don't drink alcohol too much. I will drink a beer or two about twice a year that's about it. I have not gotten drunk in years and I have seen a lot of lives and some good potential ruined by excess of use of booze.

I just think overall that alcohol and cigs are something we can do without. It ruins lives and affects many in a bad way.

Already tried that. It's called Prohibition.
Didn't work.

I might once in a very rare while drink a glass of wine but that's about it and even that not too much.
I smoked from High School age to shortly before Classic and I got Married. (He hated smoke and even though he didn't make it hard for me I quit smoking mostly because he didn't like it.)

I think some of these laws are funny. They are funny but why are they rules in the first place. We will never really know.

They are funny but why are they rules in the first place. We will never really know. They were all made for a reason. The reason, although it may not be known now, made perfect sense at the time. It may have been just to be able to put a certain person in jail one time, or it may have been to make the lawmakers look like they were doing their jobs and making laws. All these laws had a purpose at one point, they are just not enforced now because they are not practical, but no one has taken the time to have them revoked. Et voila.

Molson Canadian and Budwiser are good medicine for watching football.
I smoked until about 3 years ago. Marlboro Reds in a fliptop box. Glad I quit that.
Even though I nolonger smoke I think the laws against smokers are a kind of unfair. Like most restaurants in Pennsylvania are nonsmoking unless you have a seperate room and ther's only a small percentage of the building that can be alloted. That's a little demanding.

Do you have any better ideas? That's why laws are made; to solve problems. The prblem may have been temporary, but the law stayed. Here's an Ohio (my state) law: In Ohio, if you ignore an orator on Decoration day to such an extent as to publicly play croquet or pitch horseshoes within one mile of the speaker's stand, you can be fined $25. Let's see here.... does anyone even know what Decoration Day is? No? It's what Memorial Day was originally called. So if I decide to play a game of croquet on Memorial Day while a speaker makes a speech a half mile away, will I be fined? Of course not. The law, obviosly made in the 1800s, served some sort of reason when it was made. Does it serve any significance now? No, of course not. The only thing it's really good for now is to look at and laugh. Could the law be repealed? Yes, but why? Just to waste time and money to repeal a law that no one cares about? I's easier just to not enforce it than waste political energy to get rid of it. dumblaws.com is a good site to see some dumb laws by the way.

Do I have any better ideas? Well they may have been made to solve problems but there there because of some idiot who thought he was smart wrote some stupid laws. There are too many to say that these were made to solve problems, some are so stupid that it could not possibly cause a problem.

I would say that for people's own sake, since we know nicotine is a dangerous drug, we should ban smoking altogether and grandfather in current smokers. however, I know that all that would do is put more people in jail. people wouldn't stop.
