my money source is mostly allowance (5-15 dollars, depends how much I spend on food), and the occasional lawn mow for 20, as well as rare art commisions (though they can pay in the 100's).
I stash all my bills in a secret money stash in my room, which accumulates because I never buy stuff. I currently have $300 in my room, and I just bought $110 worth of video games :-D.
as for my checks and larger bills, they go to my savings account, which is somewhere around 5500 (woo bar-mitzvah money). My goal is to buy myself a car before college.

I think you're going to become Kim's new accountant. My Brother tries. The spending bug went to Kim and the saving bug went to Dan. ;D

somebody needs to teach me that Im always broke. It's really pretty easy Sis, if you have five dollars and you buy something that costs ten you have to borrow five dollars. That means you're in debt by five bucks. You know that you just need more spending diciplin.

My wife has come a long way about saving. It gets easier once you get into a routine. When my wife and I were dating we were both rather wasteful. I don't know where our kid gets his conservative nature. But he is. The other day I got change back for something and he said 'that leaves us enough for one piece of pizza each.' The idea being use the change for that rather than break up more money. Once getting married and having to support a household I became more thrifty but I still am not as conservative as I should be.

when im umping on a good week I make 75 bucks(3 games), and if theres a tounrament on a weekend, I put at least 100 of it(usaually about 200 total, sometimes as high as 275) in the bank. over the summer I easily cleared 1500 bucks from umping, and about 900 made it into the bank with about 200 left around for spending. the other 3/400, well I easily spend 50 bucks at every baseball tounrment for food and water. and I love yard sales. I also buy lots of movies.
-Classic-
if you read this, JW if you know what the umpires make approximately in the minor leagues. like I make 25 bucks a game, but I dont know if you can make a decent living doing minor league ball if im not good enough to do tha majors.

HOLD IT HOLD IT!!! DON'T SAY THAT!!!!
I'm 31 years old still playing in AA. I'M NOT GOOD ENOUGH FOR THE MAJORS!!!
You're 16 years old, don't you dare settle for the minors AIM HIGHER!!!!!!
Ok, I'm calm now. That was my rant. I think that if being a baseball umpire is what you really want to be then you should head for the highest position possible.
Contact your area congressman (Parliment) by letter and see what that person can do for you about getting you an opportunity. Most training grounds are in Southern California and Florida.
Some reform was made in the last few years to improve the payroll of minor league umpires. There was a time when they just weren't paid enough. That's improved though. Major League umpires range from 100,000 to 400,000 a year. (It will be much more than that when you become of age to ump there.) Minor League umps make between 20,000 and 50,000 a year.
Maybe you start with the Little League World Series and try to get an in with a professional league. Even if it's a rookie league that's a good starting point.
Everybody starts somewhere and if someone with some pull can get you a chance to do the little league world series you can take the umpireing job in a number of directions from here. Be aware that you do have to roll with the punches for a while in order to fing your utopia. But I think you knew that anyway.
However, you can make a living umpiring minor league ball if that's how it ended up. I just don't want you to settle when you're still age appropriate to strive for more.

haha, I didnt want to sound like I was settleing for the minors, of course if the academics dont work out I would love to be an umpire.
i was just wondering though like if major leagues are out of the question, would minor leagues be a good option. 50,000 a year american is a respectable salaray, and that would be awsome for me.
jw, but did you ever get a taste of AAA, or even a lick of spring training with a major league club?
and just because your not good enough for the majors, doesnt mean you arent good. playing on any level is a great acomplishment, especially when you can make a living off it.
did you ever play with/against any of the stars we have today?

He did, he tried out for the Twins one spring season but did not get selected.
There's still a chance of playing for a AAA league I think. But he has had a good Baseball career just as it is.

jw, but did you ever get a taste of AAA, or even a lick of spring training with a major league club? Yes, the Minnesota Twins gave me a tryout but they didn't select me. I knew it was a longshot but I gave it my all. For what it was worth though I worked so hard to get in the best shape of my life that while I got released once I got to the camp for my AA team I was in the best shape of my life and I had a career year. I really can't kick. I got the hatchet last springtraining and something came up. The solution came in a package that made it so I didn't have to move either when we were sure we were going to be moving. But you should be aiming as high as you can. And have no doubt the players know who the good umpires are in the league. They always know.

Good for him what will he be for Halloween?
I get to save a littlebit of money now because I an not renting my cabin for the winter. Hunters might but I'm more of a boater and camper so I'm not an icefisher.
All summer I had a nice cabin for the weekends and a boat to rent. It was supergreat. Retreat times, eh.
