Like scary stuff? What's your favorite horror movie? I've been into the Nightmare on Elm Street and Friday the 13th series a few years ago but I think I'm more into the paranormal ones, like House on Haunted Hill, The Shining, and 13 Ghosts, that sort of thing. Anything you ever seen, BTW, that freaked you out really bad? For me the movies Cujo and Carrie were unsettling. I won't watch Carrie again.

Phantasm and Phantasm II were good. The 3rd movie wasn't that good. I followed Friday the 13th for a while. Nightmare on Elmstreet I liked the original the best.
Gremlins; loved it. The Shining; loved it Psycho; original was best but version II and version III were pretty good. Jaws I and Jaws II; loved both of them.
I use to see nearly all the spooky movies but right now I have small kids. My oldest is nearly old enough to get into that but I hate to be the cause of nightmares. But he could handle Jaws or something I don't know if I'd show him movies where things come out of your closit while you are asleep. not yet.

As a kid, the spider gremlin from the second movie was the most terrifying thing I had ever seen. (I'm still afraid of large spiders)

I always forget the name of the leader gremlin as well. And the spider gremlin was in the second movie. Alot of gremlins were mutated in that one.

You're missing out. In the second one the gremlins mutated into various forms, including a bat, a gremwoman, a being of pure electricity, a spider, and a hyperintelligent intellectual that hosted a talk show and sang broadway. In all, the second movie was alot more comical.

The Boogens a 1981 Horror about Odd creatures being re-awakened upon the opening of a long closed silver mine, really disturbed me the first time I saw it One of the main things that got me freaked out was the fact that until about 15 minuets till the end of the movie monster point of view shots were used showing danger making it's way around a dark basement and up the basement stairs, and only appendages of the creatures were glanced, the sound effects were creepy sort of like a heart beat sound. This to me was a prime example of what you don't see, or at least don't see much of till close to the end being more frightening than what you do see. Im a sucker for heavy reliance on monster pov shots I was fourteen when I first saw it and I felt the need to sleep with one eye open that night. This movie is often called pure cheese and/or plain boring, but to me it delivered more genuine chills than about 80 to 90 something percent of horror movies made in that time period and since. Oh there is some corny dialog and some elements in the plot, holes or oddities no doubt, But theres just something about that movie IMO

Yes It seems the title is based on Boogey Man, While reading up on the film I recall seeing somewhere that Boogens was a term miners would use to describe getting the creeps especially after spending a lot of time in the mine and supposedly feeling the effects of so much time in a dark underworld-like place, Seems they didnt even have to become claustrophobic to experience it.Dont remember what sight I read that little trivia info on maybe the IMDB not sure Not a movie everyone will enjoy for sure but it got me in a way the more often celebrated Friday the 13th's Elm Street's and Exorcist and even Alien and so on mostly failed to ;D

The Exorcist is scary and so it the original psycho. Although thats an old movie it still makes you think twice about going into a shower after that scene.
