The First was the best. The second didn't measure up but the third and fourth did.

The Original Jaws. It's on USA nearly once a week.

Most people have already mentioned ones that I really like, but there's one nobody has mentioned yet. I can't guarantee that you've seen it because it's sort of a cult classic. Event Horizon with Laurence Fishbourne and Sam Neil. It's one of my personal favorites. The movie is a Sci-Fi horror/thriller work.

I'm a HUGE Horror flick fan.
In fact, I started my own production company (indie) called 'Mahnster Movie Productions'...a play on my own name and "Monster Movies".
My top so-many:
Return of the Living Dead. 28 Days. Resident Evil. Especially the 'elevator scene'. Jaws (makes me afraid of water to this day) Cujo (pitched as "Jaws with Paws") Army of Darkness. Ginger Snaps (the trilogy)[Emily Perkins.....hooooot] Intercessor 2: Another Rock N' Roll Nightmare (so bad, I have a renewed hope for my own crap.)
Jason vs Freddie? Utter crap. Just a vehicle to promote both characters for a profit.

I just got Audition for 3.99 at best buy! I couoldn't belive my luck!
If you've never heard of audition it is one of the best, most scary movies of all time. It was directed by takashi miike (A very prolific cult japanese horror/yakuza/musical director). The entire movie is a build up to the last 15 mins.

I never heard of it but that's a cheap price to pay for a movie anyway. It would cost two or three times that to go see it so how wrong could you go anyway?

The humans were just annoying and it was lovely when they died off.

Auditon: Never heard of it, myself. I'll have to check it out.
I also forgot about 'Tremors' and a little bit of 'Tremors 2'.

DF, I agree. The kids were stupider than in any of the solo franchises.
Freddie should have been more 'hands on', as it were.

Ya, Phantasm deserves a mention. The original Psycho, also.
Jaws scared me worse than any movie ever, though I don't know if it classifies as a horror movie.

I think I said before, but 'Jaws' is the reason I don't like open water.
....and I live mere miles from Lake Michigan.

lol, pirate captain afraid of open water?
I went to see 1408 last night. best sleep I've had in years...ya it was that bad. Seriously, don't go to see it. There were four truly scary parts of it. Everything else was just stupid and wierd. The only other scary movie I have gone to in the cinema was the grudge II. And that was carazilly scary. the noise that they played you just couldn't get out of your head, even by blocking your ears (you know the one, like a crackling breathing in) The worst (scary, distrurbing) was when the girl comes out of her appartment and drinks a two gallon thing of milk then vomits it back into it.....ewwww
