Yeah, I've looked into the "s10" model a bit, they seem to be decent on gas, so that shouldn't be to bad... Someone is gonna look at the truck tomorrow, the guy wasnt around today, he said for us to stop by tomorrow. =]

That's cheap in today's world. I hope it does great. That will make you about the 6th Lewasite member with a Chevrolet truck.
Phil, Jersey Life, Farti1, Spartan, now Mist, and I think there might be another.

Valve covers are a never ending battle with older motors. The machining must be better now. My truck I have now is 5 years old and the covers have never been off.
I changed them all the time on my old truck.
But it's not a big deal to replace the gaskets and you're good to go for a while.

Phil said:Is GMC included in that list? It's basically the same thing....really. I have a '95 GMC K1500 and I can pull parts off a Chevy K1500 I was going to go with a '96 GMC for the third door option until I got the 'TechTip' about the intake manifolds. Of course, it'd only take me about $40 to fix it but, still....it's an hour out of my day! *** Mist, I forget, is the S10 a 2.8L or a 4.3L? I can give you some 'heads up', either way: A 2.8L is naturally "shakey". If you think you have a misfire at idle, don't bother. It's the nature of the beast and you won't be able to get rid of it. A 4.3L has, in place of a distributor, an oil pump drive shaft that's sealed with an O-Ring that tends to get hard and brittle after a few years. If you get an oil leak at the top front of the engine, look under the throttle body. It's about an hour's worth of work and a $0.38 O-ring. [If it does have a distributor, the most common "No Start" problem is the 'control module' bolted to the base - under the rotor - if you have no spark or fuel.] An inline 4 cylinder?...... Sell it. An inline 4cyl with a stick.... Keep it for the fuel mileage but, don't expect it to haul anything. (If you stick your hand out the window, the truck will slow dooowwwnn!!)

I think 4.3 are pretty powerful. But yeah the 4cyl is pretty gutless in an s10
My truck has the 8100 V8 and the gas mileage isn't too bad. I get about 12 to 14 a gallon and for what it is that's not atrocious.
But it will plow snow like nobody's business and given traction it will pull my house.
It's cool that Mahnarch has the advice to maintain Mist's vehicle I hope it goes well for you Mist.

its a 2.8L automatic and yea the guy mentioned that it needs a new power steering pump, basically its without power steering right now if I get the new pump... will I run into the truck wandering around alot or will it be like an average car?
