i can't figure out anyone who would want to do this to their boss. if you think about it not only will you risk getting fired but you are breaking the trust between you and your co-workers. I know we complain about our jobs sometimes and wish we had more money but it feels better knowing you earned every cent at the end of the day. we all go through hard times but stealing is never worth it.

I think sometimes employers are kind hearted and think that firing somoene is detrimental to their lifestyle. But having non motivated workers is detrimental to the cause at hand too. Its better to get rid of those slowing down the production. Others will move slower when someone else is slacking.
The same slacker doesn't mind that they're doing less than what they're paid to do so why feel sorry for them?

I just got home a few minutes ago. I don't know if people were hung over watching the football playoffs or what happened. But a few of us overnighters had to stay. To do what? To do what others are supposed to do but sleeping was more important than being paid. What gives here? This is unbelievable and it doesn't show any signs of getting better.
When you have an obligation fulfill it! That's not too much to ask.

Amen! It is the same thing at Wal Mart and cashiers. If you call out on a weekend for"what ever" I get pulled out of my department to red line.

Sorry, friends that's not clean.

While I enjoy football as much as the next American man, I know that the day after Super Bowl Sunday is going to suck. I know there's going to be a lot of call ins, and those of us from overnight are going to get stuck. Some who have already thought of this from our shift are putting in for the night of the Super Bowl off so they don't get stuck with the double. Although I can understand why they're doing that, I am not going to. I was never a guy to run from or shirk responsibility. I would not like to leave others in a worse position for no reason other than I didn't want the burden. That's not to say that the day after the superbowl is not a long difficult day there with a very short handed crew.
Yes I enjoy football and plan on enjoying this super bowl, I can not justify missing work because you're hung over from watching a football game on tv.

i agree Phil nobody should slack off or call off because they are hung over. you know you have a job just do it and get it done. it's not fair to call off because drinking or something else is more important. I understand if someone is sick that's a different story. we just got a lazy person hired before new years. the one saturday was really busy. she saw all the returns and she didn't do anything. I was so pissed I took the basket of clothes I couldn't finish and stuck it at the fitting room at 8pm so I could start straightening. I mean cmon putting clothes away is not even difficult. I wish it was legal to smack lazy people. my one co-worker says she gets mad if you overwhelm her with work. if she isn't capable of doing work she should go to the unemployment line so someone can take her place who needs a job.

I hate to say it but I really don't understand some people's priorities these days.

It is worse and I'm afraid then it's going to take to make or break to make or break this generation. It's that time they will either step it up or crumble. wit with Internet some things can be done online, but life is still a show up and do it thibg. Most things can't just be mailled in.

Several things go missing where I work. Knives being the most popular. Sometimes they end up with other tools around the room and turn up again, but not lately. I think someone is taking them home. There were also instances of people swiping things from the office, and once a teenage boy who worked there a couple years ago announced he could open a drawer a lady kept her purse in with just any key. We also had a woman work for just a month or so because she could get money towards a van from some state program helping her out if she held it that long. Sure enough she quit when it was about that time. She was a good worker otherwise, but that wasn't cool.

i agree stealing is never okay. we had issues with a girl who just started in softlines. I told the manager she was sitting down not working because her feet hurt. she never helped us do returns because she was to good to work. they put her on checkouts and gift cards were being activated and stolen when the drawer was counted. one day the security guy was watching her on checkouts and saw her. she lost her job that day and was taken out in handcuffs. I know there are some good people who fall on hard times but the thing with stealing is no matter how good you are at it you are going to get caught.

We had this too at Wal Mart a long time employee became a customer service manager and was caught loading gift cards for herself then using them to buy high end merchandise in our store .She would also steal money. We were shocked when she was arrested as we thought of her as "Family".

A kid Jason knows was just let go from the movie theater. This kid has been in trouble at school for stealing, he has gotten attacked physically for it too.
He was working at the movie theater and I guess he didn't know he was on camera. He got caught taking stacks of free admission passes. Then he got caught not ringing up sales but just putting the money in the register, or leaving the till open for multiple sales so there'd be fewer transactions. Than after the line died down he would run a tape of his register, and pocket whatever the overage of money was and replace the corresponding amount of tickets that were actually paid for and not rung in with a free pass card. So if he sold 250 tickets, and rang in 180, and genuinely received 15 free cards, that means he could steal 55 admissions and replace that money with a free card he had in his pocket.
I guess management noticed he had disproportionately more free admissions than any other register person and they caught him. On a busy weekend he probably stole several hundreds of dollars and probably a few thousand over a span of about 6 months he was there.

the sad thing is when you steal it goes on your record so it's really hard to get a job because people won't trust someone like that. plus when the economy is so bad you really can't afford to do this. in the end it's not worth it. we had employee's arrested over a thanksgiving holiday for stealing cd's. what's the point of stealing music when you can watch it on youtube. I wouldn't want to risk myself getting locked up for anything. it amazes me to many people don't realize places have undercover security and camera's watching your every move.

So last night Brian and I are sent to put in a new water tank at a RR stop. The clerk didn't know or want to know where any of the things for clean up were kept. In otherwords she didn't want to be asked to clean after we replace our parts so not knowing where things were would make a good stall tactic.
But reading facebook, twitter and whatever, there's always time to do that.
