we had cart pushers at wal mart who kept small "airplane" size bottles of booze stashed in the parking lot and they came in roaring and were fired.Five of our temp workers for our re mod were sent to our warehouse to help clean it up. On there lunch break they bought and drank beer. A wal mart truck driver saw them and turned them in and hey were fired. Stupid nits!

I had surgery a few years ago and I was prescribed Loritab. *sp* I heard that it can be addictive so I was careful not to take any more than was necessary. If it didn't hurt or was only mildly uncomfortable I didn't take the med. If it seemed like it might start to hurt I took it and within a week I wasn't taking the medication at all.
I had no less than 20 people ask me if I had any leftover and if so would I sell it? I just claimed not to have any left but that wasn't the case. I could not contribute to someone's delinquency though.

I smoke weed on a regular basis. prefer hash oil or hash if i've got it around.
other than that, I used to get drunk about two or three times a week and I pretty much got bored of that. i'll smoke tobacco about once every couple months, usually in the form of hookah or mokie rips (mixed tobacco and weed). i've eaten mushrooms and acid a couple times, DXM once (lol), and i've smoked salvia about 20 times. salvia is weird as hell.
i've done adderall twice, both times to stay up alert all night for work. I try to stay away from the drugs which will harm my body or mind; i've stayed away from MDMA and pretty much all other laboratory stuff. I am very skeptical of any new drug which I put into my body

I have known lots of people to function inspite of drug use, but I've never known anybody to thrive because of it.
I've seen several lives ruined and one very young talented person wasted careerwise and ended up shot in the head.
But I am not to judge.

I am not to judge but I don't think any good comes of pot smoking or recreational drugs as they're called now. I smoked my share of pot in high school and in my early 20s. I knew lots of people who gradually ended up not caring about anything once it kind of became their life. Not saying that's always what happens.
I smoked cigarettes until I was 31 years old. I don't miss that at all. I thought quitting would be hard but it really wasn't at all.
I drink beer once in a while but not much. I prefer Molson Canadian Budweiser is my 2nd favorite but I don't drink much of any kind. Some of that is a product of 3rd shift. Even though I might have the holiday off I have to end up going in at 10pm and I don't want to have too many in me before that happens.
If coffee is a drug I'm an addict.

I quit smoking cold turkey in my 30's also. I drink a beer now and then or a Smirnoff mixed beverage. Never liked pot. Drug use is NOT a victimless crime.I hurt my friends and family with mine back in the 80's. Thank God they forgave me and we moved on.

This temp is going before the labor board that something he took supposedly for medicinal purposes is going to cost him his position.
Its not going to fly. At least not the way he is trying it. He thinks without a prescription of any kind that he can convince them that it was ok for him to take these things and walk around like a zombie at work.
What is this coming to?

I guess you're saying Carl Sagan was a drug user?
I was never fully aware of that to be true but even if it is/ *was* since he is deceased, this is a man who studied geology, planets, space, biology among other scientific interests. He also wrote several published books including text books used in some schools.
I would suggest he thrived because of his ability to explain his study and teach things that the rest of us could make use of and learn from. I do not see being a drug user making that possible or making his talents better.
Maybe you can explain it if I'm missing the point there but I see Sagan's works bring him to success not his addictions if there were some.
Oh, Classic, I hate to be a devil's advocate but don't uses of steroids enable ball players to hit more home runs? And are corked bats an enhancement?
Please explain.

That would be more what I meant. I have known people to function along with their addiction. It doesn't do the same with everybody. Some people go on binges and can't wake up in the morning, others can manage in spite of it.
Steroids are a good example of an enhancer but if you can't hit the ball over the fence you're not going to suddenly be able to do it because of roids. You still have to do the workout and practice hitting.
Corked bats are not a narcotic. It does work though. It gives the ball more bounce when it hits the bat. It does weaken the structure of the bat though so a hard hit or several hard hits over time will end up breaking the bat.

OK. Enough of this: I need everyone to line up against the wall for a pat down... Nobody has anything sharp or pointy in their pockets that will stick me, do they?
