I have not done too many. I tried pot a few times when I was in high school. Not since. I don't place alcohol in the same plateau but I do drink been once in a while. Not all the time and I like Jack Daniels on occasion but again I don't place them together.
I have never tried any drugs other than pot a handful of times.
I played minor league pro baseball and regular drug tests are given. If you're guilty they don't report it the first time they give you a reasonable time to clean your act up. If you're an exceptional player the management often finds a way to postpone tests. Hopefully to get their star plyer and his addiction separate from each other long enough to pass and then ignore his addiction til next time they're testing.
Things I wasn't allowed to say at one time but now I can discuss these things a bit more freely.
At a minor league level I saw so many young talented careers just destroyed by drug abuse and in some occasions death.
I can't help but wonder what could have been for those guys.
For me I realize I was a good AA player and not good enough to go any higher. But AA teams need to fill a roster I'm down to earth and that made me serviceable in AA ball till the age of 34. Not bad.

I'm not really sure why we need a "drugs thread" on the boards but I'll write a response to it anyway. I'm sure I'll understand the reason for it as we go along.
I have only given two drugs the time of day in my life. I tried pot twice and hated it both times. The other is alcohol which was in moderation before I started losing weight, so now it's even less. (People are often surprised at how many calories are in a light beer, much less a regular one).
Anyway, I find the drug scene and the people that it tends to attract as something I much prefer to stay away from. I kind of like keeping my money, health, and overall well-being intact for quite a long time, and drug use is one of the best ways to ruin it.

I'm not big on this subject either but I'll participate for the good of discussion.
I smoked pot regularly from 9th grade to about age 19. When I got the position with this company CSX I totally got away from it. When I got assigned full time work with Penn York in October of 1990 I didn't want to take any chances of there being drug tests and possibly being let go or passed over for promotion.
Some 2 decades later its for different reasons. After having been married for 15 years and with 3 children any bad habits I might have would render it difficult to encourage good habits from them.
Its more easy to encourage the best efforts possible and responsibility if I exercise those things myself.
Not everybody who takes 'recreational drugs' ends up being an ax murderer, but I still say no good comes from it.

interested to know what drugs, if any, any of you lewasite members have tried, taken or still take. i'll perhaps post my stories later but i've take ecstasy (pill form and powder MDMA form), cocaine, MKat, Ketamine, smoked weed (who hasn't) and obvious alcohol. also poppers and LSD but can't really remember the experience being drunk when I had them. actually had ecstasy pills and then poppers which sent me west. anyway your turn... Edit: I wont correct my spelling or grammatical errors but jesus I was tired writing this.

Being that the majority of our members are 30 or more years old you will probably get the answer that they've done a few things and are not into that now. But we can see what reactions bring. It can also be a question of what qualifies? Alcohol? Tobacco?
I smoked cigarettes until I was 31 years old.
I drink beer occasionally. Molson Canadian is my favorite.

well that's the idea, I just wanted to hear and compare. who took them, who takes them etc. they can put down whatever they want if it classifies. obviously tobacco doesn't make for much of a story if you get me.

The ball players from South America and Jamaica, Dominican Republics all like to tell North American players how their country grows the best grass.
I don't think I'd brag about that but we all have different priorities.

I think we all out grow that stuff eventually. For others the hold on them is too great.ex. celebrities.

I think we all out grow that stuff eventually. For others the hold on them is too great.ex. celebrities. I think it also triggers another problem and that is lack of self discipline. Some of it personal some of it pressure. Peers encourage things but what also happens with celebrities is late nights, early mornings, there's a taping of a movie, a recording of a CD a concert and some of these things are what keeps them awake and focused on the job at hand. The punishment or the price paid is that it takes a hard toll on the body and the organs. Like running racing fuel in your car and nitrous oxide might make it go faster to win races but it does also put harder demand on the internal components of the engine not giving them sufficient rest but pounding them as hard as possible for duration. Eventually the engine busts apart, or if it doesn't bust apart in one race it ends up wearing out at a lower amount of miles than it should because of the hard abuse. I think some of the drugs celebrities take to keep them on task with limited sleep, limited food a totally mish mashed schedule is similar to racing fuel and Nitrous Oxide to an engine of a car. The short term results might get more out of the body but the longevity is shortened.

i consumed a lot cocaine and ecstasy on saturday which i'm not proud of but was awesome. probably one of my favourite ever nights. What does it really do for you that is so great? I'm not being antagonistic even though it is a part of my nature to be, this time I am very serious. What does it do for you? How much did you spend and how long did it take to wear off? You don't have to explain it or defend it I am just wondering the answers to the questions. There was no other intent by asking that.

As a father of 3 that's a concern we all face. I really hope my kids do not get involved with substance knowing of course that's a concern that never goes away.
I even bear concern that they're going to discover beer. Beer in and of itself is not a big problem but it tends to absorb young lives for a time to the point they don't go to school in the morning and miss work or be useless when they get there. It happens and I hope it misses my 3.

I used my prescription drugs and alcohol as "Painkillers"I was so insecure and had a horrendous breakup of a relationship that I would take anything to stop the hurt. Only trouble with that is when you sober up now you have two problems.

A 21 year old temp is going to lose his job if not be put on charges. Last night/this morning there was a kid who was obviously not in a fully sober state of mind. I noticed he was out of it. Brian and I wrote him up and sent him home.
The brass is nearly sure to fire him.
This is a guy who was not in college so he does not have a degree. He got onto the program to work with us. Starting at around 30k a year for not having higher education or much experience and the opportunity go grow substantially and eventually reach pretty good heights in salary without the student loans that would have to be paid back.
Now he's going to lose his job with tainted circumstances.

that's sad he went to work like that. I am not sure if his job requires physical work but I am guessing it does. going to work on something he could of got hurt. if people want to do that at home I know it's their business but to lose a job that way it's going to be hard applying for a new one especially if there is charges against you. and his pay was really is really good money. when I was at Abby's working I fell on the floor as we were closing because there was no wet floor signs. they said because so many people were let go due to drugs I need to stop what I am doing wait in the restaurant until they get done and go for my drug test. if I pass I would be allowed back to work if not I could be in trouble. I thought it was weird I have to take a drug test over a slippery floor but I passed of course. they are concerned about safety yet when I was sick they didn't care to let me go to the doctor's even though I could of got hurt closing.

That's just disrespectful all along to come to work in a fried state of mind, and ti add insult to injury think the people in charge wouldn't notice they're stoned.
