I hear you folks in the North are getting pummeled by foul weather. As for this Angeleno? I am suffering through clear skies and temps in the mid sixties. BURRRRRRRRR. Seriously, I have a co worker who has lived here all her life. she is 23 years old with a 3 year old son and has never seen or been in the snow. I was shocked. . She just never got around to going to our mountains. She is getting ready to take her son there soon.

Snow can be fun from a sports point of view. Skiing, tobogganing, snowmobiles, etc. Its just been this last week or more we have had sleet, freezing rain and then snow and that's a rough combination for trains, cars, and even airports if the runways are not cleared and dried perfectly.

We have had some crazy weather and a little bit of everything. Wind coupled with snow and freezing rain busted 2 or 3 pannels off my siding.
A 3 foot piece came right off and 2 parts about the same size bend and are hanging. I went out and bought new pieces. I was going to go up and try to fix the pieces I have but they're shot. So I bought the ready made panels and I might have to cut them down a bit. Tomorrow during the day I'll put them up.
I hate doing jobs like that in the winter. But it has to be done so I will take care of it.

Aww that sucks man. I'm sorry about it. I hope it's not too serious. It's not bad. I ended up changing 4 panels though because the attaching parts sustained some damage and I could have bent some of them back and reused them but I hate to have it look like hell so I just got more new parts.

Its good that you have the capability to fix those things yourself. Ill bet you save a lot of money that way. How do you deal with so much snow? It sounds like its excessive this year. Is it?

It has snowed a lot this year. I can remember a ton of storms that were worse than what hw have had but I think we had a little more break between them.
My wall is fixed thanks. Yeah I'm pretty good at that sort of thing. I can fix things but that's a large part of what I do at work.
I would like some thawing because that will make it easier to put the snow when plowing because those spaces are filled right now. Its not snowing right now but its only about 8 degrees so it is cold and lots of ice.

It's snowing here right now. I was out in it earlier, because my mom needed a few things at the store, and while I was driving home, I was sliding around. However I did see a salt truck, so it might be safer to go out later, but I'm not working, and I don't need to go anywhere else today, so I'm staying in.

We're dealing with a ton of Lake Effect snow at the moment.
I've spent the last week struggling with dock spaces and our fleet,, trying to get our trucks plugged in for the night in -10/-15 degree wind chill. (diesels have to be 'plugged in' in less than 20 degree weather to keep the cylinder block warm enough to start after a few hours)
Right now, the county has plowed most of the main roads but, they're still snow and ice.
As far as my own road, I'm still breaking my own trail to my house.
We're in about 3ft of compacted snow. 4ft of drifts at the side/ditches.
My drivers coming in from Chicago are reporting speeds no higher than 20mph on I-94 coming in from Indiana and my Detroit drivers are saying it's not bad until you his Grand Rapids.
I wish they could put a big tarp over Lake Michigan during the winter!

I'm ready to help put that tarp down Mahnarch.
I've had about all the snow I care for right about now and it's only mid Janurary. We have at least 2 more months of this crap.
I don't mind it here and there but all this crap about global warming RRRRRRRR
Its been snowing like a sonofab*tch all season. The last couple days I've been plowing snow just about all my non work hours and I don't even contract it. If I did it commercially it would be worse.
I'm just snowed out for the moment. And I don't really mind winter overall.

Its just too bad weather cant be controlled. I understand thats impossible but it is a good thought anyway isnt it?
No more snow until what has already fallen is plowed to a convenient location. And transported to ski resorts and used for recreational purposes. When the trucks come back it can snow again and not a moment sooner. ;D

Holy Moly! Phil...... :oThat is alot of snow.. And does it look cold...Here it has been in the 80's. Global Warming here causes a mild Winter . We have had little rain and above average temps. In the North it causes extreme weather like blizzards, whiteouts & Ice storms. Then in the mean season you get your F5 tornados and category 3 and up hurricaines. My friend in Ontario Canada had heavy snow in October.

I cant imagine that much snow. Im sure that the high piles are what the snow plow made and not the actual falling of snow. Not that thats not a tremendous amount. It looks like the snow is higher than the roof of your truck and thats a big high truck.
