A 25 year old math teacher Kelsey Peterson and a 13 year old student, Fernando Rodriguez run away. Then flea to Mexico and decide to live happily ever after. Now they are in for it.
This hits home a littlebit. Im a 26 year old teacher and I could never see myself finding a lovable relationship with a student. Not that some of the students arent hunkish but you have to keep that aside.
Theres a career to be lost here you dont ruin that for a love affair.
You get your education to become a teacher and you lose it over this.
If thats not enough the Super Intendant places her on Paid Leave.
PAID LEAVE How about fired and prosecuted? The Stupid Intendant needed to take heavier measures with her.

What is a person like that thinking?
It's not like someone who can get a teaching degree is exactly a stupid person. But what does happen though? Is that particular student that special love and they're caught in a legal turmoil situation? Or is the whole thing just ridiculous? I tend to think the latter in that but I don't know.

That's an interesting 'boytoy' story.
As disturbing as it was I just can't help but wonder about my 10th grade bio teacher.
She was middle aged and still a 'Miss' but I gotta tell you that woman had some legs.
Gollleeeee.
My wife has no idea just where her competition almost came from. I could have asked Miss Walker to the prom.

More serious post now.
Kimm you're absolutely right no softening the punishments there. That broad fled with a kid that's abduction, I guess statutory rape assuming that there was intimacy, not that I know every school board's policies but I think I can assume that is against standards to have a relationship with a student or a minor even if not a student.
Yeah that review ponders that termination even before legal trials are a sure thing. Not paid vacation time.
If I missed work not even to flea to Mexico if I was 'awol' for 3 days without even calling them [unless I could prove a very good reason and there aren't many for non-notification] I'd be fired so fast my head would spin.
And this broad gets paid leave.

Aside from it being highly unprofessional, it's just sick and wrong! Why would any sane 25 year old want some kid? They need their head examined.

There's no good reason other than the obvious one. And I'm sure I don't really have to say it here I think everybody has it figured out.
It's like everybody said already there's a teaching career to lose, a bachelor degree if not a masters and nothing to show for but ending up a registered sex offender and probably lucky to get a waitressing job after this.

This is all to familiar to the Mary Kay Leternau case a few years back. She was one who was out of her mind. If I remember right she was in her 30's and the boy was eleven. In her case she got pregnant and went to jail while his relatives took care of the kid. The she met up with him while she was out on parole, got pregnant AGAIN, and went back to jail. Now the happy couple are married, once he turned 18.
Ridiculous.

Jersey, I believe he was 15 in that case but that's just so wrong. What a whore she was too. 18 may be legal but it's still taboo.

I remember that story too. Mary Kay Letouneau was of a famous family. Her father had run for President on a 3rd or 4th party against Richard Nixon and George McGovern. He had been a congressman and a judge.
After Mary Kay was out of prison she divorced her husband who took their kids to Alaska.
After she married the kid his family had the audacity to try to sue the school board for financial loss and emotional strain to the family.
No awards were paid but that shouldn't have made it to court.
