The crazy thing is California has a lot more disaster trouble than the rest of us in the country realize.
The railroad sent me to Monterey for about 5 weeks back in about 1993. I experienced that to be a great part of the country and even considered moving there. I was not married at that time but I was dating my wife and I ran it by her and she seemed partially intrigued. By the time the dust settled so to say I never ended up requesting a transfer and once my work out west was done I got sent back home and all was all.
I was not fully aware of all that happens in California though. I mean no disrespect to the members in the Golden State but I knew there were earthquakes but I see that California has just about every kind of weather there is. Yet by reputation most Americans outside California are conditioned to think California weather is like San Diego and Los Angeles.
San Francisco and Oakland are rather cold actually.

A little kid was responsible for ONE spark. There were several spots wher fires were started and they combined [not unlike the powers that make 'Captain Planet'].
From there, it was chaos,,,,,,Possum. Yeah. I know.
****
If I were President, I'd have every coast gaurd helicopter and water transport jet out there on the double - scooping up sea water and dumping it like an irishman in a urinal.
I'd also be locking up the environmental idiots on grounds of 'harboring/accessory' until the firefight was over. Then, I'd make them help clean up, as probation/community service.
I'd bring in severl hundred farmers from Iowa to make a fire break [churning up 60-80ft dirt lines] with their tractors [that the enviro-wimps opposed] and they'd be decorated with honors.
Any state attourneys, or any attournys, period, that tried to bring suit would be thrown in the slammer on grounds of accessory to arson.
