Don Imus is in trouble for saying some things about Rutgers womans basketball.
I don't know if he should lose his job but he deserved to be suspended and he needs to be more careful.
Sure you're entitled to your opinion but you also have to be careful how and when you express it.
You're held to higher standards when you're on the air or you should be anyway.

I'm surprized he didn't go the old "Alchoholic" routine and go to rehab.

He screwed up major league. I believe in what Phil said. If somebody is in a position where they have some level of fame or recognition, where people listen to and hear them, they need to keep their mouth shut and VERY carefully choose what they say. Because he said something stupid, he will now be branded a racist for the rest of his life, even if he isn't one.

That's right. He needs to be a little more diplomatic when on the spot like that. Those "Nappy Headed Hos" might just cost him his position and even make it impossible to resuem elsewhere. I don't disagree with Stunts about worse things being said it just depends where your position is when you do say things like that.

I guess he did get fired. There's said FREEDOM OF THE PRESS but I guess that only goes so far.
About three years ago Dusty Baker was Managing the Chicago Cubs.
For thsoe who are not Baseball people, Baker is a Black man. Baker made a remark that White American Players have a harder time in the extreme Heat than Black Americans and Hispanics.
Baker was criticized for saying that.
Classic, (although not in the Majors) is a white American player. He was not offended a bit for that because Baker had a right to feel that way and nobody has to agree it's a general opinion he has come to over his years in the sport.
Still Dusty Baker was not in media perhaps that makes Imus more on the spot. It looks like Imus has been fired.

So, what happened to this freedom of speech thing?
I think Jackson and Sharpton are just whining so they can stick it to the white man. Why aren't they chasing after rappers? I've heard worse things over the radio waves and on TV.
Pretty soon there is going to be complete control over radio and TV. It probably won't stop there. 1984, here we come. All this politically correct crap is too much.

I could really get started on things in this subject but Uncle Terry will spare the speaches this morning.
I kind of like Imus and I like freedom of speach and freedom of the press. Sometimes how you word is ends up being the death of people.
Rush Limbough lost his football pannel position when he said that Donovan McNab is not as good as people say he is but they are anxios to see a black quarterback excel. He didn't say that is wasn't possible for a black QB to be that good he stated only that McNab wasn't that guy.
Is it rude? Yeah maybe. But was it beyond what's allowable for tv? I don't think so. I am not sure how I feel about Imus. Yeah I agree that worse things get said, I agree that there's too much big brother and too much censorship,
Some of it's a business thing. If you are the network and your sponsors don't care that he said that nothing gets done but when your sponsors pull out their money all of a sudden it's a big deal. I wish was not true but I think it is.

Somethings a person just can't live down. I guess now he gets a real choice of what's more important the right to say what you want or your job.
It must not be worth it to him or there would have been no apology.
