A 6 story office building caught on fire in Houston and supposidly the alarm system and sprinkler system did not go off. That's gotta be an engineering flaw.
I wonder how old the building was.
I know that if there was ever a problem like that with the railroad owned buildings the railroad would be held accountable, and people in my department, guys who's job it is to maintain those things would likely lose their jobs. At the very least suspended indefinately until such a time a hearing took place. I don't know what happens in this case.
But most states have strict inspections on things like fire alarms and watering systems.

Can they hold the fire inspectors responsible even if they worked when inspected and somehoe malfunctioned at the time of the fire?
My Dad and my Brother (Dannyboy here) do state Inspections on cars. It's a once a year thing. It's fully possible for your car to pass an inspection in March and have a breakdown leading to an accident in August.
Unless perhaps they feel the fire system in the Houston building was sabotaged.

I bet it was the communists! No way, Stalin and Trotsky were both here all day I can assure you that neither of them were anywhere close to Houston.

One of the dorms here on campus was evacuated last night. It was a wonder nobody got arrested because they were ALL drunk. The fire alarm was set off by some drunk girl who held her hairdryer too close to a sprinkler. What a silly fiasco that must have been.
But anyway, the company apparently failed to properly inspect the place so they should be held accountable.

It's always someone like a staggering idiot that sets off the alarm in a dorm.
I played in a rookie league with this one guy who was a lush. Everynight drunk. On road trips you stayed in cheap hotels because Rookie league budget is very little. Like I made less than 400 a week plying rookie league. Granted I was 19 but still. So anyway we had something like that fire alarm happen and the manager found out half his team was in the bag that nearly got us all released.
And if you get cut at that level for doing something disgraceful you may never get another tryout.

SHE MUST HAVE BEEN A GIANT! The ceiling are reachable in these rooms, and so are the chairs. I may also be hearing the wrong story because EVERYONE was trashed, so the memory may be cloudy. But I do know she had the dryer close to 'something' that activated the alarm.

It looks like there's no absolute proof of sabatage or neglect so if that's true then no changes can be placed.
The investigators are not through investigating but so far that's how it looks.
