Former president Gerald Ford died today at age 93.
I kind of remember him being President, as I am 35 years old. But I don't quite remember the watergate scandol itself.
I just realize he became President unulsually because Spiro Agnew was vice pres when the election happend and when he resigned Gerrald Ford was picked to replace him. And when Nixon was forced to resign Ford became Pres without a single vote.
Once in office he ended up pardoning Nixon for his involvment in Watergate. My father thinks that Ford's decision not to have Nixon go to trial is mainly why he didn't get elected in 1976 but I was too young to follow news then.

I don't remember him being President. My oldest brother does. Its too bad he died but he did live a long and healthy life and history will give him more praise than criticism I think.

I remember him vaguely and that he was unseated I don't remember his policical stances when he was president.
I think they said he passed Reagan by a few months as the longest living person to have been a president. Both of them were 93 at death but Ford lasted a little longer.

Yeah. The other former Presidents Jimmy Carter and George H Bush are both 82 years old too. So theyre no spring chickens either.
Bill Clinton is 60 him and George W Bush are the same age. We have lost two former Presidnets in the last couple years both at the age of 93. So they both lived a good long life.

The post office was closed today to honor President Gerald Ford.
So that means getting a stack of bills comes a day later so thank you, Jerry. Rest in peace.

Maybe I'm just a stupid canuck but I would not have known Ford to be the president of the USA after the watergate thing.
I learned more about him the last week than I ever knew before but like I said I'm just a canuck I don't know much American history.

It's ok Hat. I couldn't tell you who was the Prime Minister of Canada in 1976. I'll guess Pierre Trudeau but I have no idea.

Did not effect me at all I still had to go to work. Guess a commoner like me still had to plug away.
We lost 2 former Presidents in the last couple years. They get old just like everyone else though.

President Ford's death didn't seem as... "out there" as Reagan's. It just seemed like news networks were all over Reagan's death for the entire week leading up to his funeral. Ford just seemed to be like "In other news, President Ford died. The end."

I agree with you for the most part, but I don't think Ford made as much of an impact on world politics as Reagan did. If for no other reason Reagan was President for two terms (eight years) and Ford just finished a term of two and a half years. True he did make history becoming President the way that he did but there was definately more said with Reagan you're totally right about that.
