I hate Mike Schiavo. He's a cold blooded murderer as far as I'm concerned.
His wife was injured in an accident in 1990. Yes that left her brain damaged. He stayed legally married to her but lived with another woman and had children with her. But legally divorcing Terri would have made him not entitled to her life insurance polacy.
Terri's parrents agreed to take care of her and make her no responsiblilty to Mike whatsoever. But he declined with the pretence that he wanted her mercifully to die by removing the feeding tube. What kind of mercy is there in starving somebody to death? There's also something called marriage vows like 'in sickness and health for better or worse forsaking all others til death to us part' and all that fun stuff that seems to not matter that much these days.
Well inspite of her parents' best efforts and some politicians work to get a clause put into law and even the President signing the law the state court's rule could not be overturned fast enough to return the feeding tube and Terri died after about 2 weeks.
Now he's out there supporting various people to try to get them in the senate. If I was going to consider voting for someone as soon as I see that Mike Schiavo was supporting that person I would change my vote.
