Whenever I go to a restaurant, or lowes or walmart and such I see thta people take handicaped parking spaces even though they are not on crutches or in wheelchairs, and firelanes too.
They do it out of laziness and not wanting to walk the extra few feet.
I agree that in most places a study was done and they determined the amount of handycap spaces they have to have and make sure that in a scenario that all of them were needed at once to get them all of the spaces available. And for the mostpart these places do not need the amount of spaces that are designated to wheelchair labels.
The firelane is a partial issue with me because I have needed to get through a busy parking area with a truck. I work in repairs for the railroad and have needed to cut through lots to get to a portion of track that needed repairs or clean up.
That might meen having to get behind a building to get to the part that is in need of attention.
But is it that hard to walk a little bit further? Just be glad you can. I wouldn't park in a wheelchair space or firelanes just because I wouldn't want to be doing something out of sheer laziness.
What does everybody else think? Are there too many spaces for wheelchairs? Are firelanes no big deal? What?

Sometimes I think there are a few too many reserved spaces but that doesn't mean you can park there anyway.

That's true they do over mark them but I guess it's not a killer for those who can walk a little further to do it once in a while.
Just like people who litter. They do it because they're lazy and don't want to walk to a trash can.

This just exemplifies exactly what ticks me off so much about our culture. People in the USA will do anything convenient for themselves, be it parking in a handicapped spot, or deciding that turn signals are for other people (This one especially... I've almost been hit, and my car isn't exactly invisible). To be perfectly honest, most Americans need to park farther away. Some people are just rediculously fat. And that's another thing: fat. I see being obese as a lack of self control. If you can't even watch your weight for your own health, how can you be trusted to function in society? Yet obesity is just pushed onto the shoulders of corporate America. Yeah, I'm fat, and it's your fault! Honestly, why can't we, as a society, just own up to our actions? I mean, seriously, Can eating large amounts of food and doing very little physical activity really yield any other result? *reads what he just wrote* I'm out of practice. That rant was nothing

There were good points in the rant though.

I couldn't agree with that more. People will do anything these days just for more convinience.
