I'd always meant to read this book since I first had it recommended to me, but I've somehow just gotten around to it recently. I started and finished it last week and now I'm reading it again. Has anyone else read this book? If so, what are your thoughts on it? Orwell's 1984

I have never read it but I remember that a lot of media critics felt it was a great piece of literature by George Orwell.
I have never read it myself but I have heard there was tremendous insight.

Well, I havent read it, but I saw some of the movie. Well its good, too bad the movie had to be pirated so the disk got scratched and I could only see the beginning. I think ill look for the book sometime, I noticed its about "Big brother".

1984 is probably the definitive anti-communist and dystopian novel. I read it a couple of years ago and enjoyed it. It's amazing that some of the predictions Orwell made in the late 40's actually came true (flatscreen TVs, shortened language like internet language, etc.).
Other books on almost the same page that I would suggest are Brave New World by Aldous Huxley Fahrenheit 451 Ray Bradbury.

I've read Fahrenheit 451 and I can definitely see the parallels. I haven't read or heard of Brave New World, but I might check it out now.
