Pete Rose took a ban from baseball in 1989 when he was caught gambeling. Later investigation revealed he did bet on baseball but no proof of betting games concerning the team he managed at that time.
About 4 years ago he admitted in an autobiography he did bet on his own team everynight but never bet against his own team.
The idea being if he had bet against his team he could made decisions that would lose the game. His contention is he never did that.
He was assigned 5 months in prison and 300 hours of community service he served in 1989 or 90.
He now hopes the National/American Leagues will reinstate him.
I don't know, I have mixed feelings. I could say yes because he contributed a lot to baseball he is baseballs all time leading hitter.
The team he managed won a world series the next year basically the team he constructed even though he was banned by the time they won the World Series.
He did break the law severely though.
Yet he served a prison sentense and community service therefore paid is debt to society.
I don't know personally, but this forum has a baseball family and a lot of baseball fans, what does everybody else thing?

My Dad is all for reinstating Pete Rose.
Classic wants him back in, but the problem with that is it gives anybody who is banned from a sport a chance to get back in.
Still, he didn't kill anybody like OJ Simpson, then again, OJ was found "NOT GUILTY" so as far as the law is concerned he didn't either. I don't know what to say.
I would probably say he could come back in 2009. The reason being that if you buy a product with a lifetime guarentee the law seems to consider twenty years the lifetime of a product. So a sports ban of twenty years is probably fair.

He had been banned long enough. Enough already.

I think they should castrate him.I mean it's not like theres anything WORSE going on than gambling in our sports that could..you know... kill someone...or give them roid rage..or shrinkage of the testicles.

Oh no, don't pick on Pete Rose. I like Pete Rose, Charlie Hustle.
Al growing up years we all said Classicblast is going to be the next Pete Rose, or the next Mike Schmidt. So I'm biased here.

www.youtube.com/watch?v=lU25h8okouoThis guy posts his video saying "PETE ROSE HATES ME" making us think Pete Rose was rude to him. Instead he meets Pete Rose, and begins to talk about Pete's son who plays Basketball in College. The conversation is very pleasant and all of a sudden he starts asking Rose questions that anybody with good judgment (obviously not this guy) would know to be a sore subject. However Rose politely walked away rather than belt the guy as he probably wanted to. And he still ended up doing the autograph and photo. So I think Pete Rose was nicer to this guy than he deserved him to be.

That guy was an idiot. He should have appreciated his opportunity to meet Pete Rose rather than ask him stupid questions. Judging by his responses to his youtube comments, he's a moron.

And for the first few minutes, Pete was talking to him and famous people don't like being mauled but it was a nice conversation til the guy got turdish with Pete and that's when it went downhill.

he kind of made a deal though didnt he he made a deal that he would be out of baseball as long as he didnt get more trouble for the betting. so a deal is kind of a deal isnt it
his son played too in minors maybe he still does but he was about 35 so maybe he doesnt anymore.
i agree with blastgirl and jeresy life though that guy in the yutube skit was a jerk to badger pete rose those things are none of his busins he should be ashamed of himself not showing us right in the open what a bum he acted like

If you can't stand the head get outta the street. Pete knows he bet on baseball and such, he should expect some sort of question like that. It was funny that he just ran off.
