Chris Simon of the Islanders took his stick and clothes lined another player.
I think he should be suspended for the rest of the season and playoffs too.
There has to be a rigid measure that you cant do that a sport where the players have a built in weapon must have the equipment where it cant be used as a weapon and unless the rules are strictly enforced they wont be taken seriously.

Hey, at least he didn't take off his skates and lunge at the other player.

I don't think Hockey is rigid enough on things like this. There have been a number of violant attacks in the last 2 or 3 years and short term suspendings or fines in dollar amounts not threatning to top level athletes have been all the measures taken.
Simon's not a star of the game make an example of him.

Simon got 25 games for that. Big wow. A cement bash and bang kind of player out for 25 games.
He's not going to be missed that much. He's not a prolific goalscorer he's just a big goon headhunting type.

I don't watch hockey for this reason. IMHO, a lot of people only watch it for cheap shots and fights. At least with football it's not really all about huge hits but team effort.

I watch hockey. It's not really a violant game but there are some players who fight and some people who watch it for that. But the fast back and forth game of hockey is actually pretty exciting.

I think 25 games is just the tip of the iceburg for Chris Simon.
That was a possible thing to bring criminal charges against him. It's kind of like what happend with Marty Mc Sorely and Donald Bershear in 2000
Vancouver courts were involved I don't remember the virdict but McSorely never played agian in the nhl.
He was about 38 though so his hockey career was near its end anyway.
I don't think that's the end of it though I'm sure they're going to go over this and give him more than just a suspending of 25 games.
Simon is not that young either I think he is 34.

I remember the McSorely thing.
I didn't realize Simon was 35 but he is. Hes kind of an iron brain I don't think he's that good. I looked his record up he's a very average player who had a good year a few yeas back. Other wise he's a fighter. And as you get older that gets harder to slug it out with 20 year old guys.
