The announcement is close to being made that the Yankees are suppose to fire Joe Torre.
That would be because of their disappointed upste elimination at the hands of the Detroit Tigers.
Torre has been the Yankees manager for 11 seasons. They have won World Series 4 times, reached the series a 5th.
Supposidly because of this year's failure to go any further than the 1st round he is about to be tossed.
And supposidly Lou Penella is going to get the job.
The announcement has not actually been made though but it probably will happen because the Yanks are not denying it either.

I don't see the Manager being responsible for the players winning the game or not unless he put in totally wrong people.
Also they keep saying that's expected to happen but it hasn't happend yet the longer it takes the more chance it doesn't actually happen you never know for sure.
Rumors are fickle.

I don't think it's Torre's fault they lost. I just think the Yankees have a bunch of over paid premadonas. I think A Rod is just another Terrell Owens type.
And yes both of them are very good at what they do.
If George Steinbrenner feels that way then why wouldn't he just buy himself a world series trophy every year?
No, I am glad that they did not fire Torre over that series.

I think he should have not been fired. This is a last year of a contract coming up I think how the Yankees do next year is the deciding factor.
I have played for about 6 different managers since I've been in pros. I have had some that I did not get along with.
Well I shoudn't say that. Instead I'll say I have had some I often disagreed with.
But overall not too bad. I always also knew that the manager is the final authority when it comes to your team and you do what he says and whatever heat would be on you is not going to be.
For example:
Manager Smith says for Classicblast to bunt. Well I see runners on 2nd and 3rd with 1 out I migh believe that if I could get an outfield single both might be able to score. A bunt means the runner on 3rd will almost certainly score but I would be thrown out as first and the guy on 2nd more than likely ends up on 3rd. Score a run and advance another with a bunt is the manager's plan.
So I think try to score them both and swing for a basehit and it's caught in the outfield. I'm out and nobody advances. If anybody knows I was suppose to bunt the radio show hosts and the paper will have a field day with that. And since I did not do what the manager said I'm the bad guy in print.
But if I did what he said and it flopped the burden is on someone else.

A-rod still had a very good year this year. sure its not an MVP year, but if this is a slump, its a damn good one.
he hit .290, with 35 homers and 121 RBIs, only 9 less than his MVP 130 last year.
he still hit like .350 with RISP.
now I dont know about any of you but I think thats a good season. if troy glaus did those things for the jays they wouldve had a much better season.

I'm a Blue Jays fan and I wouldn't mind seeing ARod come to town.
Fireing managers is just something they can do for a shake up like the Maple Leafs firing Pat Quinn. It's not that Quinn really lost those games and caused the Leafs to miss the playoffs.
