Ben Rothlisberger was not wearing a helmet when he crashed his Motorcycle.
I don't know what he was thinking. When you are someone in his position you need to take care of yourself. And protecting your body is more important than anything else.
He was lucky to live and not become a permant injury.
Classic plays Minor League Baseball which is a long way from being an NHL SuperBowl winner in the World of Sports.
And Classic's contract says he can not board a Private Airplane unless the team officials grant permission to ride on a Private Plane. They really don't like motorcycles but they're not forbidden. So I can' t imagine the restrictions placed on a guy in Rothlesberger's position. He could have ended up a basket case if not killed. All that for not wearing a helmet. What for?

Who in the world is Ben Rothlisberger? Ben Rothlisberger is the Pittsburgh Steelers Quarterback. (American Football) the Steelers won the SuperBowl in January. The SuperBowl is the National Football League Championship. And Ben was out on a motorcycle without a helmet and crashed and seriously injured himself but fortunately, not as bad as it could have been.

i have to wear a helmet for my skateboard, my bike and my rollerblades. if I dont I would get grounded. so why not have it on with a mortorcycle.
i live in pennsylvania and as far as I know you have to wear a helmit on a motorcycle here. I know some states dont make you wear it but I am pretty sure he was breaking pa law not having it on.

He was riding a Hayabusa too... my guess is that the bike was just too much for him.
PA also just made helmet wearing optional before the accident. Good call there.

That's right PA has changed their law. Jason you still have to wear a helmet on your bike though. Because I'm your dad and I say so.

Why would a state remove a safety law? I can't see a subtractional law where safety is concerned.

When you play sports your body is your toolbox. It's your livelihood and you have to take care of it.
Whenever you injur yourself you stand a chance of not having a full recovery. I am always dealing with minor aches and pains all players do.
A couple weeks ago I rolled my ankle by stepping on my son's sandpail. That could have been a break if that happend I could have missed time.
And that's not as bad as a motorcycle accident when you get your head smashed.
I'm not close to the caliber of athlete that a NFL Quarterback is but its in my contract that I can not ride on a private plane unless it's approved my the General Manager of my team. Motorcycles are not forbidden because the players union blocks the ban. But they are not encouraged either.
The final thought is you have to take care of whatever it is that makes you a living and in the case of a sports player its my body.

I agree with Classic. Because I am a football player, the health of my body is of the uptmost importance. If my body is not healthy, or something is wrong, I cannot perform at my maximum potential.

I can't really understand why anybody would want to ride a motorcycle without a helmet.

That came up in a convo I had the other day with some people and something I had not thought of got mentioned.
Ben probably is still at an age (I am too) where you dont really think about mortality. Maybe he did while the accident was happening but not so much beforehand perhaps.
Just something I hadnt thought of but maybe my earlier posts were harder on Ben than they should have been. If he does it again it will be dumb though because he got his reality check.

There's a post about Ben and another about Terell Owens. In Week two both of them had a bad time. Ben got clobbered and couldn't get anything right on Monday Night Football. Terrell Ownes broke a finger on Sunday night.

I think Ben will be fine it was just one of those games.
Unfortunately on Monday night lots of viewers are watching that makes it a little worse but hey that's the way it goes somenights.
