Curling is a precision team sport similar to bowls or bocce, played on a rectangular sheet of prepared ice by two teams of four players each, using heavy polished granite stones which they slide down the ice towards a target area called the house. Points are scored for the number of stones that a team has closer to the center of the target than the closest of the other team's stones.

Its one of our games here in Canada. I have had lots of people say maybe it was sarcastic maybe it was the way they saw it but the same thing Kimm said that the game didn't really self explanatory.
There is a method though. You can't touch the other people's stones with your stick but you can scrape the ice to make it more slick or stickier depending on if you want it to slid more or slide less.
If you touch the stone your team is penalized. It's a little like shuffleboard but with ice.
