Being Married to a Baseball player I understand that game very well, but I don't know very much about Cricket. I wouldn't mind if you could tell me the differences. Americans have softball too which is similar to baseball but the field is smaller, (Bases are closer together and therefore the pitchers mound is closer to homeplate. The ball is about twice the size, the bat is narrower and longer, and the pitching is underhand. But the objectives and rules are almost the same except in softball four foul balls and you're out. In Baseball there is no such rule. You can hit a hundred foul balls as long as your bat touches the ball you're still at bat. I was watching the Simpsons and I wondered how softball was different to Baseball. Well now I know. As for cricket you can find out about it here www.therulesofcricket.co.uk/

I find it a lot harder to get good wood on a softball. It comes slow compared to the pitching I am accustomed to, and it's a big huge ball and I have a hard time getting a hold of it. And I'm a long ball hitter.

I don't really have much of clue when it comes to Baseball. However I am meeting some family in America (long story) and when I meet them they say they will take me to see a baseball game. I won't have a clue about it and I won't be sure who I am surrporting but it should be good.
Is softball a big sport like Baseball or is it just a sport people play at amature.

A little bit of both Viper.
Softball is played professionally by women, there is mens pro softball but it gets less publicity.
It's also a game popbelly factory workers get together a team from their local bars and play in a recreation league. It's a combination of softball and beerdrinking but there is some sport involved there. That's the most common softball scenario in America but there are serious professional leagues too.
