I hate wasps and yellow jackets and hornets. I kill them with the long shot spray every chance I get. I dont really mind honey bees or bumblebees, but I dislike wood bees because they keep messing with our decking. What do you guys think? I voted we could do without certain kinds.

I think bees are useful atleast they do improve flowers and other plants. Yes bee stings do suck no argument there.
Mosquitoes sp I think we could live without. And other kinds of tics nah, we don't need them either.

I know they're annoying but they do balance things. Universal things. They eat certain things while being eaten by others. So every creature does something to balance the eco system.

We have a big problem. I was just looking outside our one sliding glass door and it seems as if the wasps are invading and building a nest somewhere near the door. This is NOT a good thing thats happening. Wasps are nasty. They sting, and they sting repeatedly. Nasty little illegitimate childs.

This is NOT a good thing thats happening. Wasps are nasty. They sting, and they sting repeatedly. Nasty little illegitimate childs. That happened to me once too. The best thing to do is leave them alone until they leave the nest, then take the nest down. I've always had lots of wasp nests under our roof, and they've never bothered us too badly.

They like roof gutters, sofets, cooking grills that don't get much use, doors of cars that set around and storage shelters that don't get a lot of activity.

I read this 3 times and everybody's answers and I am not sure yet.
I have to say when you actually get stung it really makes you angry but I also see Phil and Kimm's points about ecological balances. Still though once stung you think perhaps you don't need that species.

Oh boy. We found the nest, and right now its about half the size of a football. Jeez man. Now we have a real problem here. Its right under our deck, a huge hornets nest. All I know is Im not the one going after it. We're going to use long shot spray to neutralize the nest from a distance. The stuff will also kill any hornets that return to it after the spray has been applied.

I would avoid half the size of a football. Use something like either to shoot at the hive they hate that and it always brings them out.

They suck. Bad.
Earlier today I was with three of the neighbor kids in the woods. We were on our bikes. We were off the main trail a little ways and two of them got stung and I had to go back and get the bikes without getting stung.
I hate bees.

This stuff kills on contact. Ive tested it on lone wasps and they drop like stones immediately. Im leaving this one up to my dad to take care of. If I can figure out how to post a picture I will.

Nuke them because its so much fun. Now you sound like my son. 'Just get rid of all bees and nobody will get stung again.'

I have a natural extre bee-phobia. I was ok with them until some bees stung me for no good reason: another family nearby had pissed em off and like 2 landed on my glasses and one on my lip. My lip swelled up to like the size of a hot dog...
This was when I was hiking and like 2 miles up the trail.. It's amazing how fast 2 miles go when you're in excruciating pain at the age of like 6..
Also, ticks are annoying because they gave me lime disease and mosquitos suck because they managed to get into my room while I was sleeping -G2-

My little guy got stung last night before bedtime. He started to cry and it was obvious a bee stung him.
Now he keeps saying 'bumble bee' when he looks at his wound. At least right now he's kind of afraid of any flying insect. He shouts 'bumble bee' even if its a fly. That's probably going to be the case for a while.
I also am aware of the fact that sometimes you do get stung even if you don't bother them. That old saying is bull.

Thats understandable Phil and Jason. I watched a few people get stung at my dads softball game Tuesday. Damn yellowjackets. Three people got stung in total. BTW, we completely effed up that nest. I swear we must have killed 100 hornets with that spray. Damn stuff is powerful. Nest is knocked down, gone for good. And not 1 sting sustained. Whew!
