Can you really compare handhelds to stationaries? Their purposes are different. Same with computers.

Up-and-coming PS3, but no Revolution? Please include it. The PSP is nice, yes, so are all of them. Chose Gamecube simply because it's what I have, and I like it.
PSP is a MP3 player, movie player, has internet access, and plays oh-so-high-quality games. So in my opinion, it shouldn't really be called a portable playstation, not really. "Portable Sony Entertainment System" would fit it nicer. But that's my opinion.
Now, for consoles.
Xbox and Xbox 360 have high processing power and superb poly count. Due to me being a bit of a Nintendo fan, I'll present a weakness: At any one time, only about 3 quarters of the processing power is being used. This isn't usually because of the console, more because the games are not designed well enough. The Xbox would be amazing if the game were designed to be "on the edge" all the time. Unfortunately, the games need to keep the backup processing space in case of a "poly surge" to keep the game running smoothly when many objects are on screen at once.
PS2: Great framerate, but tends to have a bit of the Xbox issue. It handles multiplayer well, and it's tempted me a couple of times. My wallet said no.
Gamecube: I'll try not to be biased. It has slow framerate in multiplayer, and the poly count needs to be lowered for multiplayer as well. It doesn't perform well there. But I might point out something- when it has only to process one input (single player) the poly count can just reach PS2 standard, and the framerate goes rocketing upward. This is because (I quote here) "On dissasembling my Gamecube, I was amazed at how well it was put together. Every single component was arranged for an optimum performance level, with the processing abilities almost completely used up at any one time". The guy was anonymous. However, it does make a point. When it has a poly surge (I still don't know if that's the correct term) it brings the framerate down to PS2 standard to compensate.

The PS3 won't be out for another 8 months, so why can we vote for it if we don't know what it's like?

Allthough I'm loyal to Nintendo, the computer can emulate all the old games just fine ;D

You're joking, right? You.. you.. you must be. Surely you know. Or otherwise you're correcting the name from Gameboy DS (which is completely incorrect) to Nintendo DS. Edit: Lewa is a Nintendo fan? Great! (At least someone shares a liking for it.)

I own a Nintendo DS, but I'm guessing the Gameboy DS is a new crossover I was not aware of.

Oh. No, Gameboy DS is what illiterate sony lovers call the Nintendo DS because they haven't researched it.
Ah, yeah.

"Portable Sony Entertainment System" would fit it nicer. But that's my opinion. The PS2 can do all that (ok so it can't surf the web but can go online), so why can't wouldn't the PSP be a portable Playstation? I've played both the DS and PSP, and I like the PSP better. I like its versatility and better graphics, and it's screen is nice and big. Surfing the net is cool too.

The PS3 is not only going to have a touch screen, but it will be the latest Gameboy design? Have Sony and Nintendo teamed up or something? viper, I really need to know where you get your gaming information. Something like this should be big news.

You've crushed my hopes and dreams Thankfully, I know what's impossible and what is possible regarding Sony and Nintendo, so I didn't hope. Still, sony with nintendo.. innovative (allbeit somewhat strange) designs (Nintendo), but with super processing power (Sony)! And it would give Microsoft a hint. And come on, I'm not the only person who has suggested a DSP.
