Words in the English language that have two pronunciations although they are spelled the same.

Here are some


Live: I live in the United States.
Live: I went to a live convert.

Wind: You better wind your watch.
Wind: Theres a clod wind tonight.

Close: That was close to perfection.
Close: Close the door.

Tower: A vehicle that pulls another vehicle. The tractor part of a tractor trailer.

Tower: A tall building structure.

Polish: a cleaner.
Polish: A decedent of natives of Poland.

Lol... you said 'Polish'.

There's also:

Read: I like to read.
Read: I read a book, once.

Ship: A sturdy sea farein' vessel.
Ship: To send someone a package.

Not spelled the same, but pronounced the same:

Shoo: "Shoo, Dog!"
Shoe: "Where's my other shoe?"
Shue: Hot 80s actress named Elisabeth.

Bored: "I'm bored with english."
Board: "Who hit me with a board?"
Board: To enter a mighty, sea farein' vessel.

Other confusing ones to foreigner who actualy take the time to learn english:

Lake, Like, Lick.
Mode, Moat, Moot.
'Skeeter, Skater, scooter

It's surprising how many words like that there are in the English Language.

I fall into that category, too.

I think of awesome stuff on the road but, by the time I get home..whooop! They're gone.
