No, I mean, most of the time you're breathing automatically without thinking about it because it's an involuntary action, like your heart beating. But when you get reminded that you're breathing, you consciously start to breathe and you have to control it yourself until you forget that you're breathing manually.

What if something smells bad and you have to go outside or hold your breath til you can leave a room? Then are you manually refraining? ;D

I don't think I've ever forgotten to breathe but I am a silly laugher and sometimes I get so caught up in laughing I can't breathe. ;D
