Am I that dense?
Well, you have to hand it to me. I've only had Pirates of the Carribean: At World's End in my possession for a few days and I've watched it about 5 times but, I finally understand the 'Compass that shows you what you want most' joke.
At the end of PotC:AWE, Jack opens the compass.
It spins around and lands on a close location to his right.
He pulls out a bottle of Rum and drinks it.
The needle spins aorund and points in a direction away from him.
.....what he wanted most was the RUM!
HA! Gah, I'm so thick-headed!
Looking back over the trilogy, I see that joke's been played out several times and I never got it.
