This movie was on the other day. Bernie Mack plays Stan Ross, a big ego Baseball player who is a pure ME GUY and not a team player at all.
In a 1995 game when he gets his 3000th career hit he just quits Baseball right then and there.
However when he's up for the Hall of Fame they do a stat check only to find out that there was an error. During a 1982 game Stan Ross had three hits but the game was postponed with rain. The game was concluded in August and the box score reports accidentally credited him with the three hits twice. Meaning he has three less hits than his record.
So in what is 2004 (at the time the Movie was made) Stan Ross returns to the Milwaukee Brewers at the age forty-seven to get back the three hits.
It's harder than it sounds though because the owners want the drama of him getting his historic hit at home so the Manager is ordered to Bench Stan Ross during road games.
I won't give away the rest right away but it's a good movie about baseball and about character.
