Tombstone was a movie about the OK coral in Tombstone, Arizona.
It was a battle between the Earps Marshal Wyatt Earp, his two deputies who were also his brothers Morgan Earp and Virgil Earp. Another deputy was the town Doctor "Doc Holiday.
Their enemies were Ike Clanton, Frank McLaury, Billy Clayborn who were accused of being horse thieves.
The two movies, Tombstone and Wyatt Earp favor the Earps side of the story. Some say that Ike Clantons group were not really crooks but posed a threat to Wyatt Earp and his brothers position and so they were brought on charges that Earps thought the towns people would believe.
Who knows whats really true?
History tends to favor the Earps slightly more, but part of it is Wyatt Earp lived to be 81 years old so he got to tell his story more recently.
In any case I suggest both movies to anybody who is interested in the American Western frontier aka the old west.

I see theres not a lot of lewasite members that saw the movies or thought much of them if they did. I really enjoy historically focused movies.
Tucker was one of my favorites too.

Wyatt Earp would do anything for money. I mean, he was a HARD worker. One of his first jobs when he came out west was as a MULESKINNER !!! He was a pimp, a gambler, and a town marshall, among other things. Ike Clanton was a two-bit crook and a coward. I think that he, his brothers, and the McLowrys robbed stage coaches and banks, and engaged in various criminal enterprises.
Firearms were not permitted within the city limits of Tombstone. You were supposed to check them in at the sherrif's office when you came in, and retrieve them when you left. The Clantons and the McLowrys openly ignored the restriction on the wearing of firearms in town. Virgil Earp was the Marshall of Tombstone. Wyatt and Morgan Earp and Doc Holiday were deputised to help him. As they approached the Clanton/McLowry gang, Virgil said in a loud, firm voice, "Throw up your hands, boys, we're here to disarm you". That's all he wanted to do. He wasn't looking for a gunfight.
The shootout was in an alley near the O.K. Corral. Ike Clanton was not armed, and begged not to be shot. He was eventually killed in an attempted bank robbery, I think.
Wyatt Earp was no hero, but he was certainly a brave man. I will not bore you with examples.
The movies are entertaining, but mix a little fact with a lot of fiction.

I think that it was just a matter of 2 sets of rebels.
