Very nice models. I am far too tired right now to comment on anything, but they look interesting.
It's nice how the zoo has fallen into complete disrepair recently. Misconstruction's been the model of the week for what, two months now? Seriously.

I'm optimistically assuming that this means SC 2 is almost done. _glitch_ Now Playing: Round and Round by Wrecked Machines vs. GMS

I made a couple new models today. DualityDayOffI like 'em both. Duality is constantly looking like one of the sides will flip off and it will stop working due to the heavy gravity they're in, and DayOff is reminiscent of Juggaman's models. Nothing totally innovative, but at least it's my first stroke of inspiration since April 2005 or so.

I like DayOff... that's a really unique model, TC.
Way to go.

Hmm... soda's down for some reason.
I had an idea for a design, and am planning on building it some time this week or next. It's been a while... far too long, at any rate. Is anyone here still building?

Oh great, just when I was planning to do another coaster.

Well the problem's fixed. Apparently a disc partition on a server got messed up or something.
Anyway, once the DNS server realizes the update that won't redirect to the journal entry, we'll be back to efficently and intelligently wasting our time. ;D

Oh yeah! Soda's back online! Time to celebrate by posting all my new models: solariumJust a standard wedgy. Nothing to dance over. cr_mobilityI spent a LOT of time on cr_mobility. It's my first model ever to use a CR and I spent at least 30 minutes on the wheels alone. alerionThis model's pretty simple but it looks cool. Non-motored quadrupeds FTW. equinoxThis is a model I'm really proud of. 8 legs, 2 4 pt anchored linear mundis powering it. It pwnzors. Feedback appreciated. _glitch_

Well soda's still not working for me... shame, I'd like to see your models.

Glitch: First and foremost, congrats on your first CR. They have become something of a fundamental unit for more complex models. Now, onto models. solarium: A nice model. Good wedgy. cr_mobility: An inertial doesn't come close to realizing the full potential a counterrotor provides, but a valiant first effort. You'll get the most effectiveness out of a CR by anchoring it somehow and harnessing the movement. (Attempting to anchor the CR while still harnessing both directions of movement is what eventually led to the panCR) alerion: very nice, very nice. You really seem to be developing your own style with models like this... that's a good thing. equinox: This is a good step up from cr_mobility. While it doesn't use any CRs, you've managed to make mundi rotors, which is halfway solving the problem of anchoring CRs. Very nice model. whirlwind: Hooray for models with asymmetrical movement. It makes the model unique. New model. CompositioLatin, "in agreement with," or something along those lines. I would have preferred the latin version of 'compromise,' but none of the translators I could find knew the translation. So, I 'compromised' with the name. This is my frst model in a while, and it shows. The model's a bit rusty. The whole model started as an idea a couple weeks ago. Originally, the model was going to be a panCR as a center body, with legs coming off, and two linear "units" outside of the body, also powering the legs, but not connected to the main body, only the legs. As this would exhibit outside forces acting with inside forces to make movement, the model would have been called "Diplomacy." Well, it didn't work out, so there were a couple compromises in design. Hence the name. Perhaps I will retry the concept, with a different design, later. As for now, this is what I've got. The units are still outside the motor, but they're connected to the main body and each other for stability. I also tried to minimize use of Mins on this model, and build it by hand. I had to make an exception for what became the panCR and surrounding support, and scaling the model down so it would move. The rest is made in the good old-fashioned soda applet. Most of my recent works have been built almost entirely in Mins, so his was a nice change of pace. Comments appreciated. -skier1

I don't know a whole lot about sodamodels other than what people have displayed here. But to look at Skier's new construction I like it very much.
It appears that the center ball is balanced to rotate as the motor and the pods guide the course of the walker. The power source seems to be the centerball.
If I'm not mistaking each thread has to attatch to something or it won't balance. So there's a lot of engineering that goes into that large of a walker.
It also looks a littlebit like the transformers, or a themepark ride.

Thanks for the feedback skier. I think my personal style involves a lot of linears and accordions, the latter of which I really like using. Anchoring CRs isn't that hard, is it? Anyway, I just finished pretty much my best model ever: CReativeAnchored CR, 8 legs, tension walker. Took DAYS of rebuilding and revising and several hours of tweaking and tuning. Feedback appreciated. _glitch_

As far as anchoring a CR goes, it is easy to anchor in one direction, but not both... something like this, where the CR is still free to move both ways, but can also be held still.... it's difficult to explain. CReative is great. The top looks a little messy, so I'll have to see how it's powered, but a great model. Good work. _glitch_ edit: Link fixed.

Keychange is pretty cool. It has a nice overall look. So, more stuff. Sui GenerisSui generis means "Being the only example of its kind; constituting a class of its own; unique." Kind of an arrogant name... I found the word first (it's part of the English language, actually, which is how I found it), then tried to build a model around it. I was going for a Rube Goldberg machine kind of effect, which doesn't really carry through. The frame is weak, but a stronger frame made everything vibrate out of control. I had to substitute the mundis originally in the design with CRs for the thing to run properly. The model moves slow, and has very little grip. Overall, this model was full of little problems, and it's a miracle the thing moves at all. Yet it's the first model I've been proud of since Iuvenesco. It seems like something that's worth posting, unlike so many of my models as of late, because it isn't based on the same, tired designs. In addition, this was built entirely in soda, except for one MSS spring on the frame, and then scaling in Mins. Comments appreciated.
