Yeah yeah I know...it should be in the sodaplay forum section. But I figured this is awesome enough news for the general thread. If you go to the sodaplay home page sodaplay.com , you will notice a little blue box in the top-right that says "New constructor site coming this april 2006"... Welp, it's the 17th, and I'm still waiting. So, lets brace ourselves for something awesome!

Would that be a whole new site or a seperate part of the same site? And is it the same people making a new site?

As you can see from the models in this screenshot I found with a simple Google search, there will be many more possibilities in the new sodaplay. Looking at the top-leftmost two models it seems there will be more kinds of constraints available than just springs, and looking at the bottom-left one (entitled "plasma") perhaps different types of masses, with perhaps more physical properties. The top model also has "Extensions" instead of "Model" below it. A type of modding system? Looking at the right, those bars are also a model, but with "Widget" in the caption. I have a feeling the entire interface will be completely different, and there will be more numbers involved in model-making. Its coming soon, but for now we can only guess.

That doesn't explain. I wanted to know
a) what the search was
or
b) if the site is dev.sodaplay.com (which is what I think it is but the screenshot is a bit blurry) then how did you get a username/password

Its a screenshot that I found, not one I took, which is what I meant by a Google search.
The site is not available, or else I would've posted a link.

Colors aren't important. My models would still be pure black (if possible). However, this potential with magnets is intriguing... and certainly different enough to put every constructor back on peg 1 for the new app. It looks like you can individually change charges with those two other bars, if that is indeed what it's for. dev.sodaplay.com is definitely the site. If anyone feels like bothering with a password cracker and enlightening us all, it would be much appreciated

dev.sodaplay.comThe prototype site is up. It is not yet fully functional, but you can get a good look at whats going to happen. Miniconstructors, extensions, and SodaCities! There are demos of most things, but I have not gotten them to work yet. Everyone is on their toes. You must realize, with the opening of SP2, its integration with Playforge, and its climbing popularity, there will be many more users paying attention to this than you might expect. Be warned.

Cool!!! With the magnetic one you can make atoms! Positive = Proton, Neutral = Neutron, and Negative = Electron, and you can make elements... So far I have created Hydrogen, Oxygen, and Neon

Link to sodaconstructor with magnets: dev.sodaplay.com/creators/ed/miniconstructor_magnetism.jnlpLink to sodacities: dev.sodaplay.com/creators/soda/cityprotopad.jnlpI got a java update, it works! The constructor is truly an amazing-looking program so far, and imagine what happens when they finish it! The sodacities prototype is obviously still only a prototype, so far it resembles an object-oriented drawing program. Another day gone by... EDIT: Also check out the new sodarace site, it seems that the sodarace app will have a new, stylish play, stop, and pause interface as well as the ability to select models from a large online or offline gallery by clicking their thumbnails in the app. new.soda.co.uk/sodarace

Also interesting to do with the magnet one is this:
1) Make a ring of alternating positive mass / negative mass 2) Make both a positive mass and a negative mass off to the side somewhere 3) Make sure F is on all the way, then move both new masses to the center of the circle 4) Turn F down some 5) Wait until the masses become completely still 6) Turn F off 7) Delete one of the middle masses
The Ring of masses should go all crazy all over the screen
