Hey Jason! What type of birds do you have? I have alot of birds here.... I have: cockatiels, parakeets, lovebirds, ducks, one emu, one parrot, chickens, doves, some very old finches, and one baby peacock. I think thats it, though I may have missed one or two... I'm enjoying summer vacation too, except for the fact that it is HOT here. But other than that, its been nice so far. I am sorry I missed this post before gifish. I have 2 birds 1 parakeet and 1 canary. they are great. i like to watch birds out the window too. they are hard working animals they make nests and things. i hope you enjoy oregon and be safe. talk to you when you get back.

I hope you have a good trip.

WELL... Wow, I'm not back by any means, I'm in a coffee shop using the computer there. Right now its gray and very very rainy here as its been for days. So far there has been one day that the sun came out, and of course my dad picks that day to go shopping, and I didn't have a chance to go outside in the light..
But its really nice up here. Cold and rainy, but theres just something about Oregon. Maybe its jus that I've lived in LA all my life and never get to go somewhere.. For lack of a better word, better.
Unfortunately, on the trip up here we had absolutely TERRIBLE luck. It was alright until the morning after we slept in a quality inn and went out to our car to find that everything in it had been stolen. Like my laptop, which had all of my animations on it, flash, and alot of other stuff on it. I also lost my gameboy, which wasn't all that bad. I lost one game, and it was a gameboy color, which probably isn't worth more than twenty bucks now. But still... And thats just what I lost.. My mom lost three sculptures she had been working on for months, my mom and my sister lost their sketchbooks, we lost all of our clothes, and a nice violin that my dad had. The only thing they left was the archery equipment.
But thats not it.. They also broke into the car next to us, and they took the guys garage door opener and the license or something for his car. So if you can work that out, the license had his house adress on it, and the have his garage door opener. They're gonna rob his house too.
And the really bad thing is.. My gameboy and my sister's sketchbook both had our adresses on them. And they know we're away from home, and if they put it together, they might know that we were going AWAY from home for thanksgiving.
Then, as if that wasn't the worst of it, the day after that, the car in front of our house in California was broken into, the door completly smashed in. Ergh.. This isn't a good sign. Its been years and years since someone has had a car or house broken into on our street. Coincidence? maybe, but I dunno.. What are the chances?
So we bought new clothes, fixed the car (they did something to the door lock so it wouldn't lock properly), and now we're just hoping nothing happens to our house. Ugh.

Yes, it was insured, but I don't think it covered being stolen. I think it was just something to have it replaced if it started acting up or someone dropped it. I'm probably going to get a new one sometime, but I don't think it'll be soon. Unless we just went to frys and bought one, but I'll probably end up ordering one off the internet. That way you can decide how much space and ram you want for it.

Oh my gosh I'm so sorry Gifish. This really sucks that there's people that are so disrespectful to other people's property.
Although it could happen, I don't think they'll rob your house especially if you live far from that motel. I can't guarentee that but most likely not. Most thieves of that nature rob within a few miles of their home and not much further.
That's just terrible. I think you're doing the right thing though get new clothes and whatever else could be replaced and continue with your trip.
I can imagine how your father feels about the violin.
If anybody ever stole my glove it just fits me just right. Yes it will wear out they always do but if that was ever lost I'd be so mad I'd be chewing nails.
I'm guarenteed to break six to ten bats a season so I don't get too attatched to them. But my glove is how your father probably feels about his violin.
And your long hard efforts spent on your artwork. I am really sorry to hear about that.

Actually my dad repairs broken violins and fixes them up so they sound better, and he has a good friend that owns a violin shop. He says the violin wasn't worth too much (I think about 500-700$. It seems like a whole lot to me, but then I don't really know what the normal cost for a violin is) but it was a very nice sounding one. I think it was a new one that he was trying out. We've agreed that the biggest loss was my mom's sculptures, as shes a professional sculpter and she lost a few months of work It was very shocking to find everything gone. I've never had anything like this happen to my family or me, so its a new experience. I can't say I like it

I am so sorry. I hope the police get those people and you get your things back that's disgusting that such people would do that to travelers. Hotels are often victomized by thieves.

I still cannot figure out why they took my mom's sculptures. Because it looks like they looked at them before taking them. The towel that was covering them was taken off, and I don't think the boxes they were in had tops, so they took the towel off, looked at them, and decided that they wanted them? What would a burglar want with half finished sculptures? I suppose we could be mistaken and they just threw them into a van or truck without looking. That seems to be what they did with everything else. Our best hope is that they just got thrown into the trash when they saw what was in the boxes, as that way there wouldn't be any plagiarism. The same thing applies to my mom's five binders that were full of a story for a graphic novel shes been working on (they weren't the originals. They were copies, so my mom still has another set down in California).
I do hope the police are at least able to catch these people, but by their way of breaking in and the stuff they took I'm pretty sure this is what they do for a living.
But no, I don't think they're going to drive all the way down to LA just to break into our house. But they might have relatives or buddies in or near LA that could go and check out our house... Thats what we're afraid of.
But a person who lives with us, Amber, stayed home at our house while we went to Oregon, and my dad called her and had her take all of the other expensive instruments out of the house... The instruments are probably the most expensive thing in there. And Amber has been sleeping at a neighbor's house for the past few nights, so we're all safe.
I suppose all there is to do is hope for the best, and get on with life. And vacation. And Oregon. After all, it wouldn't be too nice to spend thanksgiving worrying about someone breaking into your house.
Woah, today is thanksgiving.. That sure crept up on me. Happy thanksgiving everybody!!

Thats just terrible. Im so sorry gifish. Thats such an invasion of privacy as much as it is loss of products.
Its just mean spirited to rob peoples things and hope to gain from that. I hope the rest of the trip is better and I hope your house is safe.

That's the awful thing. Idiots that ruin people's vacation by robbing their cars.
People like that should be sent to hard labor camps.

It takes a scumbag to break into a car and steal people's things they should have their arms and legs broke.
