patch.com/california/banning-beaumont/campers-already-out-beaumont-awaiting-black-friday-deals-0?utm_source=social&utm_medium=&utm_campaign= I copied and pasted the link from the black Friday story I was going to talk about. two women are already camped out at best buy in the hopes to get a good deal on a television. I could not imagine spending 22 days camped out for a television plus my work schedule wouldn't allow me to spend that much time out there. my television came from toysrus it's small and $70.00 still works good. I would not do well in the cold either even in a heated tent for that long. it's hard to believe the day I fear is coming up in only three weeks. people always get so angry and go crazy over material things. last year people at Walmart beat each other over towels. I signed up for the overnight shift Thanksgiving since last year the overnight shift worked out pretty good for me except when I left at 4am I had to be back at 3pm. I am thinking about doing black friday this year if I am able to. not to camp out but just look for a ipad mini. I love the camera on it and don't have money for a dslr camera so a ipad would be awesome. I would also love the ipad for music but I can always find things discounted on ebay or amazon. hopefully those women get a decent television but I heard for black friday televisions are discounted because they have cheap parts. not sure if that is true most likely it's not. anyone have plans for Thanksgiving or black Friday?

My wife loves shopping on Black Friday I steer clear of malls, plazas and department stores. NO THANK YOU. I don't care to get mugged over a child's toy. I shop late in the season. My wife can buy socks and sweaters my job is to get the cool things.
Thanksgiving is a nice holiday watching football and eating turkey doesn't get much better than that.
In the earlier days of my work I had to work all those holidays. It wasn't until about age 35 I finally earned enough seniority to be off on Christmas, Thanksgiving and the other key Holidays.

for black Friday I get to leave work at 7pm hopefully if people don't call off. so I am excited because I might be able to shop. I have not decided because I am off Saturday so I might shop then. depending on if you go much later in the day Target store won't be as bad. I don't want to deal with the crowds either but I got morning shifts Thanksgiving and black Friday. Thanksgiving I have a 9 hour shifts and a 30 minute dinner instead of a hour. I found that funny considering I got written up for punching in work from dinner 30 seconds early breaking state laws. the violence that breaks out black Friday is another thing why I hate working in retail but luckily my job has not had many issues in that area like other places. people beat each other over towels it's crazy especially when a guy was trampled and shoppers stepped over him getting mad because they had to leave.

I hate crowded malls and plazas. I'll say this though. Yes memory lane again. They are great places to spend a few hours when you're a baseball player on the road and your game isn't until 7pm and you've already done the practice thing.

a lot of deals that I like are online shopping like amazon. when I worked at Kmart maybe three years ago for black Friday they called me in early saying lines were backed up on checkouts all the way down to sporting goods which was the other end of the store. I could never wait in lines like that. plus those days because of the deep discounts people get more violent. every year there are more horror stories.

I don't really see Best Buy as a place to pitch a tent and camp until Black Friday. My wife loves to shop on that day I steer clear of malls and plazas on Black Friday.

I already have most of my Christmas shopping done. Usually I buy gifts a couple weeks before Thanksgiving. I refuse to go shopping on Black Friday, and I also refuse to shop on Thanksgiving. I worked on Easter this year, which I really didn't mind as the deli was only open till 4:00 pm. What I really did not like was people who came in and would say, 'it's a shame you have to work on Easter.' to which I would think, If you think it's such a shame, why are you shopping today? It sucks that big corporations and big box stores are just getting greedier every year. Thanksgiving day should be about spending time with your family; not fighting people to get a good deal on smartphones and plasma TVs.

i worked Thanksgiving 10-7 then could only take a 30 minute dinner instead of a hour. my day went pretty good. it was busy in the morning then died down later so there were no returns to do. I got to straighten and the shoppers were nice this year. usually they yell when items in the ad are out of stock. I went shopping at target where mostly everyone had televisions in their basket. I bought a shirt and a peppermint patty I was a big spender lol. black Friday I went out with someone to one store for art supplies then to karaoke. I had my Saturday off today which I have not had in a long time unless I requested so I got shoes buy one get one for a dollar. can't go wrong at that price. I will say this shoppers need to understand they can't destroy the entire store. everything tossed where it shouldn't be. clothes all over the floor I had to pick up every hour. I was so glad Friday I left at 7pm and didn't have to close. the store looked like a tornado went through. I also saw the videos 2 women at Victoria's secret beating each other up over underwear. I don't understand that or the two women who were fighting over a barbie. to me that's just childish.

I worked my first Thanksgiving/black Friday as a cashier at Wal mart but I managed to dodged the bullet. Got off at 2 pm Thanksgiving day and came in at 1 pm on Friday. People were camped out as early as Wednesday for TV's.

I am glad I don't have to work that type of venue. I do appreciate that some people have to. I work in a sports shop but its not the kind of busy that the Wal Marts and plazas are.

Beangirl those are great hours when you get to leave work early especially on Thanksgiving I hope it wasn't to crazy for you at Walmart. I think angry shoppers who get mad and yell at employees around the holidays are the worst. I can't believe Christmas is only two weeks away and the insane holiday hours will be over. Classicblast I am glad to I don't have to deal with huge crowds like some of the bigger stores. where I work it's mostly checkouts, service desk and electronics that have more lines. since I get to do returns in softlines it's mostly jewelry I hate doing. I know nothing about that department and have to cover it alot. but at night I get to straighten clothes which I like doing more. it's hard dealing with messy people during these holidays though when they try shirts or coats on and throw it over the racks and it ends up on the floor or people trashing the fitting room.

They act like the workers are at fault that the stores are crowded and that supplies run out

I like going shopping now because most of what I need is bought but this is a time for fun. Going through stores. When I worked in a department store I hated December rushes though.
