Not a big chance, but I can receive most of the retirement benefit after 25 years with the job. In May of 2015 I will have 25 years with CSX the parent company. In October of 1990 I was issued full time status and assigned to Penn-York Division. If your age and time on the job add to 80 you can retire with full pension. I would reach that plateau at age 49 , in the year 2020.
That does not mean I will retire then either since I have thoughts that Jason would be out of college about then but Eric would be in his senior year and my daughter will be in 7th or 8th grade at that time and working where I am is more lucrative than a pension.
But I am 43 now and the longer days especially the hard labor days are harder than they used to be. Living on a shortage of sleep is harder too.
I am eligible for partial next year because 44.5 and 25.5 will reach 70 I would get about 80 percent. With 80 percent I could still get a less demanding job and that is a consideration. I became a foreman a year ago when most of our crew went to St Louis for a few months. If I stay on till age 50 or just before I stand a good chance of being a supervisor. If that happens I wouldn't retire until you have to.
zi might call it quits in just a little over a year though. Considering at least.

Thats an exciting Idea though. I know what you mean though its better for your family overall if you stayed on for a while longer.
