Angry beyond expression in this case describes how I feel right now.

It is just after 4am and I got home about half hour ago.

I'm just furious. I got sent home and written up.

I am 36 years old and have worked for the parent company since May of 1990 next month that will be 18 years almost half my life. In September they found me a fulltime position with the Penn-York affiliate and I have never had disciplinary action taken against me for any reason. In fact I have several times received commendations.

So what happens this week? As you all know my shift is 11pm to 7am.

Well Sunday night myself and 3 others get sent to a 3 day project.
The project is proposed to take 3 days but if it needs to take longer with an explanation it can be granted. Even more help can be offered if need be. The proposal is completely fair.

So a guy is not among us the Sunday night/Monday morning shift. We all assume he has called in or was excused. Our job foreman Brian who is super he's only 27 or 28 and I would work for him anytime.

Well he asks me and the other guy if we have enough. We figured 3 of us could do this unless there was trouble so we worked at it.

Mondaynight/Tuesday morning same thing we had same 3 guys and we did essentially the same thing.

Tuesday night/ Wednesday morning the guy who was not there was with us. And nobody really gave it much thought and we finished.

Brian is faxed a memo and we sign our completion.

The memo had it on there that there were 4 of us on the job all 3 days and there wasn't. None of us idiots bothered to read the damn memo we just signed and got it over with.

Tonight a shift supervisor called all of us in and lambasted us. And hard.

The 4th guy apparently clocked in or had someone do it for him Sunday night out Monday morning and in Monday night out Tuesday morning.

Now the company has no proof that the rest of us were not conspirators to something.

We all got sent home at 230 or something without pay.

There's a possibility of not getting paid for half the night we were there.

I don't care all that much about the money. I am mad at the guy who put us in that bind and at myself for not being more careful.

For 17 years I have established an impeccable record and something like this happens.

I can't even vent much other than pour myself a Budweiser and come to Lewasite. My wife has work in a couple hours and Jason has school and Eric has preschool and my daughter Emily has to go to my mothers for the morning.

I cant' wake them. So I have to be relatively quiet and not too loud in the f'bomb department.

The 1 guy is suspended until hearing and will possibly get fired unless the union saves him. He's an all right worker but no better.

The other 3 of us will not be punished any greater than losing wages for tonight. We deserve that though. We all are on as planned tomorrow. Except for the guy who actually made the trouble.

The shift supervisor said that its our job to see those things because for all we know he could have been committing a crime [not likely but possible] and he's clocked in at work with 3 other signatures he there. That means he could have an airtight alibi handed to him by us, or we may be accused of being involved. 2 things we can't have happen.

Although that is a long-shot he has a point.

I'm just disgusted with myself for even being partially responsible for something that got me sent home. I've never had that happen 17 almost 18 spotless years.

I received a text that the writeup is not going to stick and that it will not go on my permanent work record. But I will always know.

The lost pay is not a huge deal but then again I do have a wife and 3 children who could benefit from any money I am able to earn. And letting half a day to a full day's pay get away is careless on my part as a husband and father.

Don't you just love the political bulls**t? I hear you on this Phil, my father has plenty of stories to tell about ridiculous crap that goes on in the police department. This isn't your fault. You guys figured the idiot was sick or had called out or whatever. There wasn't any way you could know he was having somebody punch in for him. I hope he does get fired for this.

It seems that you guys had no way of knowing this guy was not clocked in. I don't see how its your responsiblitiy to know that.

I dont' see why they send all you other guys home for something he did. Ok you didn't properly read a document. But that's pretty harsh I think.

I think the guy who made the trouble deserves to get fired.

Anyway, last night/this morning was as usual.

It's wonderful what can happen when just one person screws everyone over. If the job could have been done with just three people I don't see what the big deal was over everyone else. It should never be assumed you were all in on covering up for him.

I watched the blogs. Gee, I have to say that's a side of Phil we have never really seen before.

Granted that's video and not a text reply in a site but still.

I'm sorry that happened. They still shouldn't have held you and the other 2 men responsible. That's because unions and lawyers got involved saying things just like what you said already. Some lawyer probably got some guys in a similar situation to you guys saying "My client has an an air tight alibi you have to let him go. Three guys not suspected to be involved signed that he was on the job."

So then the other lawyer in order not to surrender the case has to find a connection that the other men were involved or at least covering for the suspect.

The saga continues.

Phil my family runs an industrial business and the value of good dependable workers with an honest work ethic is so valuable that there's no way the company would let the rest of you guys fry on account of one piece of crap.

He probably quietly had someone else clock him in, and was out cheating on his wife. (if he's married) and he figured he would sneak in later and his time would get to the payroll as being on time without anybody knowing and he would be pain anyway. And he just didnt make it.

I would bet someone else logged him in and he didn't even show up to do that. (Is that possible?)

How long are these memos?
Is it a simple: "Hey, Jim was here today. Sign here."?

Or, was it a "Jim, here after known as 'client' sat, unsolicited, nolle prosequiem ner pa se, henceforth nil prerequem shall commence, hereafter......"

If it's the latter, you have a case.

First off, no right minded person would understand that bull-shnitz language and won't sign it unless a superior tells them that they can't go home until they do so (leaving the responsibility in the super's hands).

If you can prove, beyond a reasonable doubt, that someone else punched in for him (most likely a manager or super) than you can put the blame on them.

If you did the work you deserve the pay (+1/3 of the lazy butt's pay)!

I wouldn't go quietly into that night.

Plus, a 'write up' can stick with you like a Gungan after you save his life.
No one wants that!

If you do, you're screwed.

i was mad for hearing this because my dad is a good guy he goes out of his way to help other people. if he is on your side he will put himself at risk to help you get out of risk

he is not who you want mad at you but if he would hang on hard for dear life to help you if you need him. so I was angry enough I wanted to kick that guy that got everybody in so much trouble in the face.

(Oh, also, as POTUS, I'd take a 50% pay cut right off the bat (I don't need that much = and everyone in Congress and Supreme Court has to take the same cut..) - saving the U.S. billions in governmental taxes/salary since no one in the government is allowed to make more than the prez.)

I got the impression from Phil's vids that he did want the position.

Some people are just a$$holes and the rest of us suffer.

We had some loser call with car trouble. That's fine that's why we're there. But the same person pulls their car in with a chain to avoid towing charges and then gets short with us that we didn't get to it as soon as he had hoped we would. Like he's our only customer.

When it starts with pulling a car to the shop with a chain, the coarsest possible way to transport it is a way of avoiding towing charges, it only gets harder from there.

That person Phil and his crew got in trouble because of was trying to slip in a full day's pay and not do his job.

I hope he gets fired he deserves to be. I'm not glad that Phil and the other men got in trouble for that guy's wrong doing but I am glad they caught the guy who was clocked in and not on the job. That's a form of stealing.

THere's a lot of spring fever at work this week. More call ins than usual yesterday and today because of the warm weather. It's over 60 here now. And I did a double yesterday thats' why I wasn't here. And today I stayed 3 extra hours but I was let out when they had obviously enough.

I can understand the Spring fever though. Last week my allergies kicked up so bad all of a sudden I thought I was going to pass out. The next couple of days at practice sucked with my sinuses the way they were.
