Thats stupid. Halloween is for candy for little kids who get to show their costume. The neighborhood food police can take Halloween night off.

That's 1 more step toward our society getting softer and softer. So what does she give out fruit? Not that fruit is bad so much but is that so terrible?
My wife will not let the kids over eat the candy right away they will have a piece or 2 put in their lunch for a while then they can have a piece or 2 after school and maybe after supper too. That's how you regulate them not by spoiling a fun tradition.

when someone writes a letter calling you fat that's damaging your self-esteem and leads to anorexia down the road. I don't know if their giving the letters to teenagers also since they trick or treat or just give it to the parents of the smaller children. I think it's horrible to ruin a child's halloween like that. people should understand words hurt and if their going to do that just leave the lights off or hand out something healthy.

A lot of that depends on how thick skinned you are. Some people have their esteem broken right away when something gets said to them.
I played ball for 16 years I quite often heard "Palmer you suck" or something like that if I made an error or swung at a bad pitch. I had no idea my mother got around so much til those days either. hahaha
I also read articles written by stupid critics who wouldn't know a baseball bat if they stepped on one why speculate how much or how little I care about the game.
Obviously a Double A player isn't seeing major league figures so when you're over 30 or near 30 playing at that level you care more than those dumb idiots would ever believe.
Once the powers that be think you have nothing to offer a young squad you get put out to pasture. I made it til I was 34 before that happened to me. I have no complaints. But all this long winded post brings up is something meritful in Angel607's post about how esteem can be broken. That kind of ridicule ruins a lot of people early and they never reach potential.
But it's Halloween for all that's good and wholesome let the kids eat candy.

Everyone has something they're self concious over. To a little kid not getting candy would probably upset them more than being called fat, but it depends. It's not nice to tell strangers that or assume the parents are at fault because sometimes weight is medical. If she didn't want to give candy, why not little toys or pens and stuff like that? I think her idea is very self righteous, it's not her job to say anything.
