I feel a bit helpless right now. Jason is in his junior year, plans on college. We have a 5th grade Eric and a 1st grade Emily. I could age and time on the jobwise retire at about 50. I doubt that will happen with colleges ans all. I really doubt it with this up in the air insurance.

I'd love to develop a block in an urban city ruined. I mean build whole blocks of neighborhoods and refresh a whole area that would be so cool to look through a neighborhood up and running and say "I build that."
It would be job security for probably 50 years to come.

Cleaning the neighborhoods of the crime would be the big challenge.

I have an idea, make Rob Ford, the mayor of Detroit. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rob_FordHes proven to manage budgets. His name is that of a car, so its with the theme of the motor city and he isnt offended by crack dealing. He would be prefect for two or three 4 year terms. Once the financial problems were resolved and its time to clean up drugs, he would have to go along with the skid row bums but for openers he could serve a purpose.

See if I could have gotten in with the Tigers and earned millions I could have bought some blocks for Thunderbird and the family business to develop.

There is a movement back to urban cities but I dont know that anything can be done about the crack dealers or at least if they can be gotten rid of fast enough to better the neighborhood.
I mean new and better houses can be built but if the neighborhood is still being ruined and crime is gathered nothing will change for the better it may only lead to a type of war.

That's a real problem is the gang leaders and their thugs have it so police are at enough of a disadvantage they even avoid those neighborhoods. Being brave can mean getting killed. Then it's not so worth it.
And that's where it ends up in the hands of the more powerful gang even if only power in numbers.
Or it could end up a 'Jonestown' community.

and now I have 5000.
Now back to serious, with several studies and some funding set to help Detroit there's no signs as if they're really making an effort to help things improve.
A lot of things could be a good place to start, and Ford GM and Mopar could build more product at home and outsource less creating some more jobs. So could the factories that make parts for cars. Return to Detroit when they're using labor from China and or Mexico. That still doesn't improve on the city's terrible leadership but that's a place to begin.

I follow the channel of Shea Woods from youtube and the properties he shows are interesting. Every once in a while he finds a diamond in the rough, too.
