so I don't understand how this stand your ground works in Florida. George was found not guilty in murdering a teenager but a woman in Florida who fired a warning shot to stop her husband from attacking her got twenty years in prison. he even said he tried going after her in the past. this verdict does not make sense to me. the lawyer of Zimmerman starts the case off with knock knock jokes for a good laugh in a murder case. I feel horrible for Trayvon's parents having to listen to their childs screams on the 911 tape and now there is no justice for him.

I don't know all the particulars in either case but I am more bothered that that woman got prison time than I am that Zimmerman didn't. Zimmerman will be forced to face the court of public opinion. And there's even some other follow up court charges that will possibly befell further charges even if he isn't convicted this time.

It's about what you can prove. Emotion or evidence. And the evidence won over emotion in this case.
My commentary on these case results are extensive and can be found in the original post about George Zimmerman, "murderer on the loose". I'm too tired to repeat myself and all that needed to be said was said there.

After The Rodney King trial and Riots an O.J. Simpson trial I am jaded . I was not surprised at all by the verdict . Paula Deen goes down in flames for saying something 25 years ago, yet Zimmerman walks .

Our whole legal system ends up being law not necessarily justice.
But I hadn't followed this super close along the way but toward the end I had gotten more up on things especially all last week I worked days in Washington DC and was away from my routine. I was in a hotel room by 7pm or so and able to follow some news and this event coming near its climax at the time.
While it is possible Trevyon Martin was on the prowl we don't know that for sure but he had been in trouble before and regularly kicked out of school for fighting and stealing and its even possible he fought Zimmerman originally he was in his truck when he called 911 emergency and he was told to stay in there. He got out and followed Martin and ends up shooting him. If he had been right up to that point that sequence tends to change things.
If somebody broke into the house and was attacking I might shoot them in the house. But if I has separated from them and called police and was able to tell where the suspect was headed and the police dispatcher said to stay in the house they will get the suspect, I would expect trouble if I follow him and shoot him.
If you shoot the suspect when the attack was not still going on its very different from shooting during the attack.

there are many rallies going on to bring charges against zimmerman but I don't know if that is going to happen. I was thinking the stand your ground law needs to change. the woman that got twenty years for firing a gun as a warning to stop her husband for beating her I think people should be on the streets protesting that not trayvon. she used that gun as self defense and didn't hurt her husband which if she wanted to she could of easily killed him. does the law think it would be better if he just beat her? there are people who want to kill zimmerman and shoot him that's why they are giving him the murder weapon back but two wrongs don't make a right. if someone kills him they are no better and their life is going to be ruined. violence won't solve anything it just adds to the problem and makes it worse.

The 20 year for a warning shot when she could have shot him was just way out of line. That was more flawed than any of the other controversial verdicts in my opinion.
There was a vigil for Treyvon Martin and in that fights broke out and 4 were killed and 11 injured... wasn't this supposed to protest violent acts? Whatever anybody's feelings of right or wrong in Zimmerman/Martin situation, this approach bringing that result is just all wrong.
This meant at least 4 more unnecessary deaths.

their trying to make the zimmerman martin case all about race saying zimmerman went after him because of the color of trayvons skin. I don't like zimmerman but that's just not true. zimmerman was watching out making sure nobody was getting robbed or nobody was breaking into someone's house. I don't even think after the oj simpon case they had protests after the verdict. some guy was arrested recently posting a status all white people should be killed over what zimmerman did. we have riots breaking out which you would think people would stop the violence. as for the threats on zimmerman's life people need to stop that to. I think their really afraid now because if someone confronts you with a gun you have no right to defend yourself. it sickens me that they pay their respect to trayvon and people are attacking others. people are mad zimmerman might be getting the murder weapon back but with all the threats on his life people are making he has the right to defend himself. Obama has also been saying this is about race which is stupid on his part because he is just setting more people off on this race thing.

I see there's a number of race related protests going on. A motorcycle shop owner was beaten this week in protest of this. The bike shop owner had no steak in the George Zimmerman and Treyvon Martin case.

i can't believe someone would attack someone for no reason. I think this happened during september 11th also. a little boy was beaten because he was the same race as a terriost. their mad zimmerman got away with murder but they should take a good hard look at what their doing. attacking someone over the color of someone's skin and they think that's justified. I don't get people. it's like to solve the violence problem they just commit more violence.

They do though. Its not different from when the LA police brutally beat up Rodney King and riots emerged and a trucker Reginald Denny was beaten as a way of retaliation. Denny was pulled from his truck and beaten and he had no connection to Rodney King at all.

That's the worst thing too is the targeted are usually someone who had nothing to do with the initial problem.
If you got jumped in a Burger King you don't hold it against all Burger King locations or Burger King as a company at all. It was the people who happened to be in that store at that time that made the trouble it has nothing to do with Burger King as a company. Yet retaliation crimes seem to be along those lines.
