Well, hello Lewasite

Figured I would break this rather lengthy hiatus I've been on and pop in to say hello to everyone. So, hello!

I also figured I'd give some updates on where I am in life. Although I've reached maximum pay and supervisor status at work, its simply not a career. There aren't any careers out there anywhere in this pile of garbage economy and in this state, so even though I have a Masters Degree in Anthropology (graduated in January with a 4.0 average and a 115 page Masters Thesis. Yay) there is no opportunity. So I am forced to go to school again for a second masters. I'm already in the program so I should be starting in September once they get their program approved by the government. This is a better field, with loads of opportunity.

The wedding is in 5 months from today. Wheeeee! We're both very excited.

1998 Harley Fat-Boy with 20k miles and a buttload of extras. Bottom line is I got lucky. Been a dream since I was 5 years old and saw Terminator 2 for the first time. Build your credit score up and keep stuff paid on time if you can kids. You never know what you'll get approved for when financing is concerned! This started with a random google search and an eh what the hell moment when I saw the financing application. Now a life's goal is in the garage, and I'll own it forever.

I'll try and pop in every now and then and comment and/or post. Hope everyone is well.

Thanks for the update Jersey. Congratulations on graduation and on your wedding coming up. I can hardly believe that this fall it will be 13 years for Blastgirl/ Sara and I. We don't have to be so anonymous anymore.

The motorcycle is very nice. I know what its like to want something from childhood and only a few of those things actually happen. So good deal. Besides its in front of a Ford in your picture. Being from a family that owns over 100 Fords I have to mention that. (the business has over 70 trucks plus our own cars and trucks)

I also know what its like to make career changes I did that at age 34. Its going to be a bit easier at 25 I would believe.

I am happy for the update sounds like all good news.

I don't just want to echo Classic, and Beangirl's comments but I'd say about the same things. Congratulations on the Harley, the wedding and career news. Not to 1 up Classic but next month it will be 17 years of marriage for my wife and I.

Thank you for the warm reception. Classic, I agree that when it comes to childhood dreams and things of the like that they rarely come true. Often, people forget about them. For me, the reason I decided I wanted that motorcycle was because of the movie. 5 years old is an impressionable age, and when that brain decides that something just represents the pinnacle of awesomeness, it tends to stick for a while.

Turns out I have good taste, and even when I was five. The Fat-Boy represents an old school motorcycle look, with the softail frame resembling the hard tails of the 1950s. Plus, the solid aluminum wheels makes for a very unique look that no other motorcycle has or has been able to pull off.

There is a cool story behind it; the model was released in 1990 as a celebration of sorts, with military grey paint schemes and yellow markings and stripes across the Evo engine heads.

Harley had just regained the market dominance from the Japanese partially as a result of the non-oil leaking Evo motor that proved simple and reliable as well as with some help from the government. President Reagan put an import tariff on foreign motorcycles, due to the fact that they posed a large threat to the last American bike manufacturer (Harley). The Fat-Boy paint scheme and wheel styles were meant to resemble the colors and wheels of B-29 bombers.

As for the yellow striping, well, those were prominent on the atomic bombs dropped on Nagasaki and Hiroshima. Also, Fat-Boy as a name has two distinct elements as well since the bombs themselves were named Fat-Man and Little-Boy. Harley now denies that there is any connection between the motorcycle styling and the bombings, but its pretty well known that the bike was meant as a bit of a jab to the Japanese. And if its not true, it's still a neat story.
