John, our six year old found a kitten. The kitten was very frightened but seemed to be comfortable being handled by John.
He fed the kitty cat and asked if there's a chance we could keep him. Blastgirl wondered if Pirate, our dog would like the kitten. Obviously dogs are usually territorial but Pirate seems to love our new house guest. So if this kitty is unclaimed his name is Mitten and he stays.

I'm surprised the dog took to the cat so fast. Dogs usually don't like 'strangers' in their house.
Was this a wild kitten? They are relatively common. Once they're a few weeks old they will stray from their mother.

I've made it clear to John that there's a chance that a bulletin could come out and if it does we have to give him back but most likely he is a wild kitten that got lost and in that case we can have him.

i am glad you took the kitten in. it could of got hurt being outside. I know I have a dog but I would love a kitten more. you don't have to take them outside to the bathroom. kittens are so adorable and really good with kids. some animals will get along with other animals pretty good and want to protect them. my dog loved my grandmother's dog when they met.

I just never expected Pirate to accept the kitten this easily. I've always figured a beagle is kind of a natural defender of his territory would see another animal as an invader but that hasn't been the case at all.
