i don't know if anyone has herd this story but on abc news I read a child was taken hostage on a school bus. the guy stepped on the bus with a gun and asked for 2 kids. the bus driver tried to stop the guy and was killed. they shooter took the 5 year old under ground in a bunker the guy made. I prey the child makes it out alive but it's been almost a week. the parents are going through hell and the mother is barely holding on. the poor kid I herd is crying for his parents. the shooter from what I learned beat a dog to death with a lead pipe. I would like to know how no charges were brought upon him for that? he also threatened to shoot children if they would try and go near his property. I hope this child is free soon. I don't know how any monster could do something this cruel.

There is no hell worse than this. Nothing is safe anymore. Obviously we used to worry about kids being bullied by other kids on school buses and at school not abductions and murders.
A 66 year-old bus driver gets killed trying to protect the kids. Its a half day job for a man who is probably retired and serves the school community he doesn't bargain for this either.

it's sad kids are not even safe in a school. the bus driver risked his life and paid the price to keep the kids safe. he died a hero.

No update last I know. The bus driver is definitely a hero.
There's an element of copycat crime. Sandyhook and the movie theater now this. Its a shame that it could come to this but school monitors and bus drivers may need to be armed.
The anti gun people are going to say that the gun is the problem but if the good guys don't have guns this is going to get worse. The cliche 'when guns are outlawed only outlaws will have guns' is a pretty true saying.
Not a tragic thing exactly but last week Eric *my 9 year old* needed something that he forgot. So I brought it to school. Time was when you could just walk it to the class room but because of recent events the doors are locked. And monitored by camera. A lady had to ask what I was here for, and I had to tell her I was Eric's father and I had something to bring for him. Then I only could bring it as far as that lady's desk right in the lobby of the school. That's fine but the reason its come to that is sad. Its because of the shootings and violent acts against kids at school.

thank god the boy was free today and returned to his parents. the monster is dead. I also used to think it would be a bad thing if teachers were armed because what if a gun was left behind and a kid got it and shot the place up. however that has all changed. I now think teachers and bus drivers should be armed and trained. maybe if the bus driver was able to shoot the guy things would of turned out different. he would still be alive today. glad to hear your son's school has taken some good safety measures in case something were to happen.

That's a miracle. Our younger son is 5 and we, Blastgirl and I, couldn't help but relate to this family. My 8 year old said that actually he said, "that boy is the same age as John and I couldn't imagine not seeing him for a week or even knowing if he is alive or not." Yes, my 8 year old actually said that.

This is8i miraculous. For sure. And today that boy turned 6 years old. I think Classic and Blastgirl's 2nd son is soon to turn 6 because my daughter will be 6 in April and I remember that their youngest was born just a few weeks before ours.
And yes I can also relate to this story.
I am once again relieved that the perpetrator in this has been killed. Just like the Colorado movie situation and the Adam Lanza Sandy hook school situation, some lawyer isn't going to make a hero or a victim out of the nut job who murdered and terrorized.
And that person isn't in prison being interviewed and ending up having books sold that are going to promote him as 'not so bad just misunderstood' or how Vietnam made him crazy.
Sorry, over a million served in Vietnam they deserve better than to be represented by someone like this.
I am glad that its over. And this is the only way its really fully over.
That bus driver's family.... its not over for them. They lost their husband/father/possibly grandfather.
That child and his family are going to be uneasy for many years to come. So rethinking this it's still not fully over. But its better than it would be if this guy was still alive to make headlines.

if the killer was alive his face would be splashed all over the tv for what he did and lawyers would work up a insanity defense. this poor kid I don't know how he could ever go back to school after what happened to him. to be taken underground with a crazy guy who is walking around with a gun. I would be scared to death. I hope he gets some theropy for these nightmares he will probaly face.

I'm with Angel and Phil here. The lawyers would make him a victim and possibly even a hero.

I'm with Angel and Phil here. The lawyers would make him a victim and possibly even a hero. Its bad enough the kid saw the bus driver and then the kidnapper shot and killed. Not saying that authorities had a choice in the latter but its still an upsetting thing especially to a child only approaching 6 years old. So I still think he will have some bad dreams, concerns, whenever someone approaches abruptly he is likely to jump a bit more than had that not happened. At least he can be assured that man will never bother him again. This is still going to require a tremendous amount of expert counseling.

i can't even imagine the horror when these kids saw the bus driver shot and killed. nobody should ever have to go through that. I hope the boy that was taken hostage gets the best help available.
