I am quite a hockey fan at kind of disappointed that As of Monday. There's been Strikes before, The 1994-95 season Was shortened from 82 games to 48 games because of this. I think the season started around February that year. The entire 2004 2005 season Was lost due to the holdout. I don't see anybody winning this dispute. As it stands now No resuming of talks Are scheduled. So unless something is done soon there is either not going to be a hockey season, Or there is going to be a significantly shortened 1. Most fans He who are not interested in the ins and outs of Things, May just end up viewing this is greed between the owners of the players. I know it's not that simple but most people are interested in the Behind the scenes issues.

Its a good opportunity for some prospects playser in the minors to establish themselves though.
In 1994 baseball did the same thing and the season was canceled and there was no playoffs and no World Series.
I was playing in a rookie league at that time and a year later I got moved along to AA because some other minor leaguers got moved along. there fore promoting guys in rookie ball.
I have to face the cold reality that I was not good enough to get pushed forward beyond that point though. I did get a brief triout with the Twins but that was not because of the hold out.
I do not think the incumbents benefit much by squabbling. If an agreement is reached the relationship is troubled at best.

No new discussion that probably means no chance of the hockey season starting on time. My opinion is it will happen but not til after Thanksgiving. I hope that's not true but that's what I would believe at this stage.

I guess I was just never conditioned To think that refusing to do your job was a way to get a raise, Or terms that you resided.

It look like they were close to agreement yesterday but talks broke and nothing's changed. I really hope we don't go without an NHL season this year that would be Terrible.

That is eerily similar to the 1994 baseball strike. At that time I was in rookie league ball and I really hoped taht the owners would bring minor league players along. I realize the quality would suffer for a time but it would grow back.

I am still anxious for hockey. I hate this greedy banter. They're losing money at a wild rate. They're going to lose some fanbase if they don't put it together soon.

I don't know why they don't just bring minor league players in and play. The quality of .the games might be like in a little bit for a while but it would come around.

I don't know why they don't just bring minor league players in and play. The quality of .the games might be like in a little bit for a while but it would come around. They don't want to do that because they feel the qulity wont be there Also because they figure that if the subs get too entrenched the same thing would happen in that they could send them back but at an increased pay. In 1994 I was playing rookie league ball and I hoped during the baseball strike some of us might be moved along but no such luck, they canceled the baseball season instead.

I think they set a deadline for January 11 meaning if theydon't come to an agreement by then, there will not be a hockey season. That was what happened in 2004-2005. I can't believe they're ready to let that happen again.

Last I heard they just closed a meeting at 1am and they're not saying if that is going to be an agreement.
I think that's a good sign though because they are meeting tomorrow. I am a little more familiar with these ins and outs than other forum members having played pro baseball. Obviously this is a different sport and at the top level but there are some patterns.
They are not foolproof but usually when they aren't saying that means there's an announcement pending. And that minor wrinkles need to be smoothed out but its in the works. And the announcement is pending. My experiences have been when its "no deal" they make that clear right away.

Phil you're probably aware the holdout is lifted and they're going to be playing later this month.

Its nice to have hockey back. It would be awful dull after the Superbowl not having a sport to watch.
