I can not believe that a movie house becomes the target of a massacre. With 12 dead and about 60 wounded.
You would think you could go to a movie without having to worry about being shot.
What is the world coming to?

It seems as if we're just not safe anywhere these days.

i guess they have him in solitary confinement. I hear he fights with and spits at the guards if they need to transport him.

i just herd about how they say this guy was possessed by evil and they think satin is responsible. I don't understand how they can say that. this guy had a notebook to carry out his plan. my friend said on a abc news program they said he did it because he was misunderstood. I think they are making excuses for him. from what I hear he dropped out of collage due to behavior problems. I don't understand how someone can do this. a three month old baby was shot. I herd a story where 3 guys died protecting their girlfriends. they actually took a bullet for them. it's so sad this had to happen. I don't know what this guy was thinking to kill a movie room full of strangers who did nothing to him.

Thats just more of the same crap about not taking responsibility for themselves. The devil made him do it....... the devil didn't pull the trigger.

Exactly. Sadly this buffoon gets all the rights all prisoners get when we know he is guilty and really has no reasonable explanation for what happened, not that there could be in a situation like this.
But the law is clear and he gets a trial.

beangirl that is exactly what I was thinking. I also wonder what this guy told said to his therapist because I would of thought maybe there was signs on this.

I wonder how anybody can defend something like this. There are some killings no matter how fabricated the story there's some believability.
Suppose *God forbid* That I am at odds with a neighbor and we had fights and I kill him and fabricate a self defense scenario. That would be wrong and evil but possibly defensible since the neighbor had been menacing.
How do you defend going into a movie theater and shooting the viewers?
When I was a kid there was a big massacre at a McDonalds. At that time I was about 14. My friends and I somehow saw the lighter side of it saying things like 'you put onions and mayo on my hamburger, ' then made machine gun sounds. McDonalds notoriously messes up food orders. Looking back that was not something to joke about but when you're 14 life is more simplified and you don't see the whole of things in the seriousness of them.
When you reverse that 14 and you're 41 life looks a bit different.

He killed kids and adults before a sharp shooter ended his life.

i'll never understand how anyone can say evil made them do it. I herd the doctor told the police before the attacks James seemed violent and nothing was done. it has not been proven if this was true. I would hate to see if this all could of been prevented.

Yes, Beangirl that was the story. I guess I was 13. then I was not clear on exactly when that was but I do remember it.
As silly kids we made jokes about riding our bikes to McDonalds we better wear bulletproof vests. Like I said, life isn't quite so serious when you're 13.

It seems as if we're just not safe anywhere these days. This is why I advocate CCW - and have even before my PD days. I have an IWB and keep one... somewhere... just in case [legal or not] ((mostly "not".. shh!)). Listen, folks! The Police say they are there to prevent crime. This is not true; The Police are "Responders"[/b] to crime. They are there solely to take pictures and scoop up your corpse during the aftermath. Carry. "When seconds count, the Police are only minutes away!"

Its the weirdness of things more than anything else in this thread. If a guy robs a bank, terrible as it is he did it for the money. If he shoots a responding police officer terrible as it is, the officer would have arrested him and he was trying to get away.
While we don't support these actions we understand them. But what was Holmes's beef with the people he shot? And the McDonalds happening. My friends and I mocked that McDonalds often makes mistakes with the order but that was not the reason it was actually a tragic event.
When you're 41 you don't make fun of those things.

I was very small but I do remember Charles Whitman the guy in the Texas tower who just opened fired at people during the noon break at the school. It scared me then to think someone could do that.Turns out he had killed his wife and mother before the shooting and when the autopsy came back he had a brain tumor.Still doesn't make any sense to me.
